Chapter 11 - Feeling Holey

[Recap: After been woken up by Minho, Wendy is shown strange markings on the west doors that create complete phrases of her and the deceased glader, Isabella. They, Wendy and Minho, both plan on showing Newt and Alby in the morning, wanting for them to see the words themselves.]

The invisible sun shines brightly in my face, making me squint my eyes from the exotic light.

After seeing the golden hair in the distance last night, I hadn't been able to sleep at all. Instead, I stayed awake all night, keeping an eye out for the person again and thinking of everything that had been happening lately and how it all started in the first place.

Isabella had died before I arrived and claimed to be having nightmares and flashbacks of a girl named Wendy, who after all, ended up being me. After she died, I came up the box and was known as the 'Replacement'. Now, there's markings on the wall saying that Isabella is still alive and that I'm going die, yet it can't be Isabella because she's supposedly dead. All of this was confusing and stressful, especially that I had to keep alert 24/7 in fear of being stabbed by the ghost of Newt's girlfriend to say the least.

I rub my forehead and slump out of my bed, feeling tired and regretful of not sleeping at all last night. At first, it was Minho's fault for waking me up in the first place, but then it ended up being my fault for staying awake. Still, I was going to punch Minho again.

I walk over to breakfast, yawning and feeling heavy bags under my eyes as I grab a bowl of fruit and some weird pancakes Frypan had attempted to make. I sit down at a table with Jeff and Winston, ignoring their stares until they bring up their opinions.

"You look gross." Jeff tells me, poking my head to get me to move, "Did you sleep at all last night?"

I laugh quietly and shake my head, "No. Couldn't sleep at all."

Winston's eyes widen as he takes a bite of an apple, "At all? You stayed awake all night?"

I nodded my head and yawned, "Still gotta work though."

Jeff eyes me wearily and shakes his head, "You look like you can barley walk. I think you should sit it out for today, Wendy."

"I'm fine."

I ruffle my brown hair and feel an odd sense of nausea hit me all of a sudden. I feel my body give out, making me fall off the table and onto the floor.

My head hits the ground and a ringing noise settles in my ear, a pounding sensation echoing throughout me like a drum. I squint my eyes, trying to regain consciousness but it seemed like a hundred bricks had been thrown on top of me, forbidding me to breathe or move at all.

I try opening my eyes, feeling vomit rise up my throat as a headache appears. I hear Jeff's and Winston's voice in the background as they call for help, both of them lifting me up and off the ground.

I groan in pain as my stomach seems to cave in. Out of all the times, today was the day I became sick.

Seconds pass by and suddenly I'm in a bed, a blanket thrown on top of me. I was burning up, but I felt cold, a mixture of two temperatures that seemed to mess me up even more than I already was.

My eyes widen as I lean over the edge of the bed and grab the trash can before emptying my breakfast contents into the bucket. I feel someone lift my hair and bring it back into a ponytail, grabbing all the pieces as I heave in and out.

"Screw this." I spit before vomiting again, my eyes watering during the process.

When I finish, someone takes the can away from me and out of the room. I lean back into the bed, feeling even more tired than before as dizziness hits me like a sandstorm.
