Chapter 43
"I cant believe I'm doing this.." I say unsure of what I'm getting into.
I pull my hair up into a ponytail and sigh.
I look up at Christina and she watches me with a concerned stare but her eyes as well sparkle with excitement.
When I finish up making myself look decent, I head out of the bathroom and turn the light off in my room.
I shut the door and watch my breathe as I slip out into the hallway. Christina bounces on her heels in happiness but she is trying to cover her joy up for my sake.
I know she can't wait, and of course I can't leave her to go alone, but I don't know if I'm even emotionally stable enough to walk out of the house at the moment.
"Come on," she lingers as she tugs on my arm towards the front door.
I mumble incoherent things to myself because I know I shouldn't be doing this.
But then again, it might just be the solution to my mental state.
Christina decided we should head back to school after weeks of missing. Ever since I got surgery, they let me stay out for almost a month, then they let me stay for approximately two weeks, and now they believe I should be coming back.
Of course, we won't graduate alongside our classmates. We have missed so much that we will have to stay about half a month into summer, but I'm okay with that.
It's not what I am focused on right now.
All I can think of is the moment when Four looked me in the eyes and told me he didn't remember me.
All I can think of is the pain in my heart that was far more excruciating than any surgery or pain I have felt in my lifespan.
All I can think of is the way my voice cracked and my world stopped.
Get with it, Tris!
After realizing my moping and flash-backing will get me no where, I follow Christina to her car. She jingles the keys in her hand and flashes me a sympathy smile.
I mentally thank her for everything by flashing one back. She has been there for me since day one, all the ups and downs; she never left my side.
I couldn't ask for a better friend at this time, all the support and joy she has given me, even though it is extremely insane to consume joy in an event like this.
As well does she truly motivates me to get me to do things I would rather not. Yesterday night, I was sitting at my desk refusing to move, and she was the one declaring me to get my ass up and go to school the following morning.
She begins to drive to the high school and my breath hitches at the thought of seeing people I haven't seen in forever. What will people say of me? What will they think?
I'm probably known as that one weak girl by now.
I let the thought slip out of my mind, considering it doesn't even matter.
