Hank stared at his ringing phone. His eyes flickered towards the mirror, and straight towards his bare wrists.

The scars were obvious. They were still pink, and the skin raised in their lines. He frowned at the sight and answered the call.

"Hank! I want to live life." Amber didn't even greet.

He blinked, "What?"

A smile could be heard over the phone and Hank couldn't hold back the smile warming on his face. He opened the door and saw his mother a few feet away from the door watching him carefully.

"I want to live life. I want to do things and experience adventures and create memories. I've been so absorbed in myself that I didn't allow myself to live."

His heart began to thud in his chest excitedly and his mother grabbed his arm making sure to avoid his sensitive wrists.

"What's going on, Hank?" She asked worriedly.

He smiled down at his mom and breathed as if he had ran out of breath, "She feels alive."
