Chapter 8

A year later on March 21st, 1998

Mitchell staying overnight at the hospital was just more than a night; it was about several months before he could remember what happened that night. Elizabeth, after work today, gets to pick him up. It's been months she has seen him and she missed him terribly. Now at the hospital, Mitchell lies in the hospital bed and notices his love and girls' outside waiting for him.

He's ecstatic that he gets to see them today for the first time in months. They all leave the hospital with Mitchell's things in hand and as soon as they get in the car they hear a song they like by Matchbox 20 entitled 3 a.m.

She says it's cold outside and she hands me my raincoat

She's always worried about things like that

She says it's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault

And she only sleeps when it's raining

And she screams and her voice is straining

She says baby

It's 3 am I must be lonely

When she says baby

Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes

Says the rain's gonna wash away I believe it- Matchbox 20

As the song is playing, Mitchell thinks about things in life that he has done. He's married the most beautiful woman on earth and has two adoptive girls' he's been thankful for. They arrive home and Mitchell couldn't be any happier to be home with the ones he loves. He walks inside to notice something wrong with the house. It has been trashed upstairs and downstairs. I wonder who did this?- Mitchell thought.

"Honey, look!" says Mitchell. "What the hell happened?!" says Elizabeth. "The whole house has been trashed. Do you have any ideas as to who would do this?" says Mitchell. "The girls' birth dad and mom?" says Elizabeth. "Yep. That's what I was thinking." says Mitchell. "Do they have something against us?" says Elizabeth. "We adopted there girls' for goodness sake." says Mitchell. "Maybe they want them back." says Elizabeth. "They're our adopted girls now. They'll never get them back." says Mitchell. "I like the way you think there." says Elizabeth. "Me too." says Mitchell.

After that conversation, they all change into their comfortable clothes and make themselves lunch. Mitchell enjoys this time with the girls' and his wife. During lunch, Elizabeth hears the phone ring and notices Louise calling and she talks to her.

"Hi, Louise." says Elizabeth. "Hi." says Louise. "What is it?" says Elizabeth. "Just wanted to see how my girls' were that's all." says Louise. "They're fine and happy." says Elizabeth. "Oh, okay just wondering." says Louise. "Anything else?" says Elizabeth. "Nope. That's all.  Goodbye." says Louise. "Bye." says Elizabeth, ending the conversation.
