Chapter 27

The next day...

Elizabeth awakes and notices a call from her boss- "You don't need to come into work today. School is closed due to a pipe burst." She wakes the girls up, and tells them that. Elizabeth heads downstairs to make the girls' and her some coffee.

"Some news, huh, girls?" says Elizabeth. "Didn't see that one coming." says Juliet. "Me neither." says Isabella. "What do you girls want to do today?" says Elizabeth. "It's a nice day. How about a walk in Central Park. Grab a coffee, some lunch, and go for a walk." says Juliet. "You always come with the best suggestions, dear." says Elizabeth. "I do don't I?" says Juliet. "I think so, too." says Isabella. "We don't have to rush. Whenever you girls want to go." says Elizabeth. "Okay."says Juliet.

They all help in making some breakfast; a doorbell sounds in the background. It's Chris, Juliet's love of her life.

"Hi, nice to see you this morning. Holly didn't want to drop by?"says Juliet. "Nope. Allison and Holly have plans to go to the movies. I didn't want to go to the movies. So I took a walk to your place and I see you all are making breakfast. Can I set the table up?" saysChris. "Sure. Happy you're here." says Juliet. "Me too. Nice to see you Isabella and Elizabeth." says Chris. "You too." says both Isabella and Elizabeth.

Chris sets the table up, and breakfast is served soon then after.Everyone eats, converses, and enjoys this morning. Chris surprised me this morning! I love this day already!- Juliet thought.

"So, Chris, where is Allison and Holly today?" says Elizabeth."They are at the movies. I didn't want to see the one movie theywanted to see. So I thought I would drop by to see Juliet to see what she's doing today." says Chris. "That's thoughtful of you."says Elizabeth. "It is." says Isabella. "What are we doing today?" says Chris. "Juliet planned a day out to grab lunch and coffee and stroll through Central Park." says Elizabeth. "That sounds like fun." says Chris. "We'll leave after breakfast is all done and through." says Juliet. "Okay." says Chris.

They finish up breakfast, and Chris was nice enough to clean up while the girls' got ready for today. He finishes up, and sits on the couch to wait. The girls' are finally ready now, so they hop a train to Central Park, grab some coffee, and a quick bite for lunch. Theystroll for a few hours.

"Lovely day today." says Elizabeth. "It is." says Chris."Good idea, sister!" says Isabella. "It turned out to be a good one." says Juliet, leaning into Chris to kiss him.

All of them hop a train back to the apartment; Chris goes ahead back to his apartment already so he's home early before Holly & Allison get back.

"Anything else you girls want to do?" says Elizabeth. "I'm good." says Juliet. "Same." says Isabella. "Okay. Well I think I have some school-related stuff to do. Coffee?" says Elizabeth. "Yes." says both Isabella & Juliet.

Elizabeth brews the coffee, and gets to her things and girls head out on the balcony of the apartment and sit and sip their coffee. Elizabeth's phone rings and it's Mitchell. "Hi, babe; what's up?"says Elizabeth, on the phone. "Dinner?" says Mitchell. "Pick up something and surprise us." says Elizabeth. "I was thinking of going out. There is a new place by work I think the girls would like." says Mitchell. "Okay, we can do that. You'll meet us back here?" says Elizabeth. "Yes; And I'll take you all there. My treat. Also, I got a pay raise at work." says Mitchell. "That's good, babe." says Elizabeth. "It is. Okay, well I see you at home. Love you bunches." says Mitchell. "You too." says Elizabeth, hanging up the phone.

The girls' come back in, and Elizabeth has a huge grin on her face. "Mom, you okay?" says Juliet. "Yes, why?" says Elizabeth. "Dad good?" says Isabella. "Yes; he is taking us out to dinner plus he got a pay raise at work." says Elizabeth. "How exciting!"says Juliet. "That's cool!" says Isabella. "You girls want to change before we leave later or not?" says Elizabeth. "I think I'm good." says Juliet. "Same." says Isabella. "Okay, well we'll wait for your dad to get here. So, would anyone want a snack?"says Elizabeth. Both of the girls's nod. They have a snack and sit out on the balcony taking in the summer breeze. Smiles brace upon them when they sit outside. A couple of hours later, Mitchell arrives back, and he quickly changes and takes the girls' out to dinner. This particular place they hop a train to, and arrive right on time for their reservation. They sit out on the patio area of the restaurant, order drinks, and take in this moment.

"Thank you, babe for dinner tonight." says Elizabeth. "You're welcome. Anything for my girls'." says Mitchell. "They have some nice food on here." says Elizabeth. "They do. A little bit of everything which I always like. Order what you want." says Mitchell. "Alright, then." says Elizabeth.

They order some salads to start, and everyone else orders something else to eat for their dinner. A light laugh is shared between this. They head back after dinner is all done. Now back at the apartment, they all make some peppermint tea, relax, and head off to sleep a few hours later.

Two days later...

Juliet and Isabella finally are able to head back to school today; Elizabeth is also able to head back as well. They go about their regular day, and Elizabeth gets a strange phone call from Kent. "Hey, it's me." says Kent, on the phone. "What is it? I don't need any stress right now." says Elizabeth. "Louise is missing. I'm not joking." says Kent. "Where was she last seen?" says Elizabeth. "She took the train back here, and all of the sudden she ran off and didn't come back at all." says Kent. "Okay, well I'll keep my eyes peeled if I see anything suspicious." says Elizabeth. "Thank you." says Kent. "No problem. Goodbye." says Elizabeth, hanging up the phone.

Elizabeth grabs the girls', heads to the local cafe near their apartment, and takes a coffee to go. They all walk back to the apartment. To think when things are going good. And a situation like this just makes it worse.- Elizabeth thought.

"Good day, mom?" says Juliet. "No. Louise went missing. Kent called me and told me. He has no idea where she went. I didn't need this right now, girls. She was doing so good and this happened." says Elizabeth. "I'm sorry to hear that." says Juliet.

To make the situation more awkward, the doorbell rings; the girls' tremble with fear on the inside. As does Elizabeth. Isabella walks to the door, and sees Louise. She opens the door, and out of the blue hugs Isabella. "Your husband called me. He told me you were missing." says Elizabeth. "He's not my husband anymore. I caught him with another woman. That's why I went missing." says Louise, crying and shaking. "I'm sorry to hear that." says Elizabeth, walking over to Louise hugging her. "Has this happened before?"says Louise. "Yes, when you were in treatment actually." says Elizabeth. "Oh gosh why?" says Louise. "He missed you while in treatment; he needed a replacement to remind him of you while you were there. I didn't quite understand it." says Elizabeth. "I'm filing some divorce papers up. I'm done. I can't do this anymore." says Louise. "Okay, hear me out. We'll ride a train back to Boston, meet with a lawyer and file the papers up. Look, I'll call Kent and tell him if that's okay." Louise shakes her head; Elizabeth calls Kent and tells him the news. As Elizabeth talks to him, Kent seems stunned and sad at the same time. "I'm sorry girls it had to be like this." says Louise. "It's okay. You got better for you all around and also for us, too." says Juliet. "You don't need someone like him." says Isabella. "You've got us." says Juliet. "And me too." says Elizabeth, hanging the phone up. "Thank you so much." says Louise. "No problem." says Elizabeth.
