Sunday, December 25th
I groggily open my eyes. Last night was so long. I had car sleep. You know, the kind of sleep you get in cars. You're kinda half awake, half asleep unless you're actually awake. Then I remember why I couldn't sleep, it's Christmas today!
I yank my covers off of me and do a small happy dance on the bed. The house smells like gingerbread and cinnamon. It has a Christmas aura, it's amazing. My home feels so warm and welcoming and, homey, believe it or not.
I hear my mom calling Emma and I from downstairs and I glance at the time before I run downstairs. 5:57 am.
My smile only grows at the time. We try to have Christmas every year around six. Some people thinks that's way early and some think it's super late, but I think it's perfect. Emma joins me on the stairs and we sprint down.
My breath is taken away at the sight of the tree. Everybody's presents are stacked under in different wrapping paper, different shapes and sizes, it's so exciting.
I let out a small squeal and sit down in a chair next to the beautiful tree. Emma and Jake join me moments later. We wait for about five minutes before both of my parents come in and we start opening presents.
How we do it is one person goes to the tree and gets a gift, they give it to whoever's it is and they open it. Then, the person who opened the gift picks a present and gives it someone, etc..
I'm the first to pick a gift so I grab one and see that it's actually for Jake. He has a look of shock on his face seeing it's from my parents.
"You didn't have to get me anything Mr. and Mrs. Jones."
"It's nothing, really, open it." My mom probes.
Jake does as told and opens the wrapping to reveal a pair of dress shoes.
"These are so nice, thank you so much." He says and gives my parents quick hugs.
I squirm in my seat in anticipation. Jake picks up a present and hands it so me. It's from Emma. I tare open the gift and see a box full of adorable clothes from American Eagle.
"When I met Jake, I was actually getting your Christmas presents at his store." Emma elaborates.
"Thank you Em, I love them." They were all adorable.
I set my gift down and walk to the tree and pick up one for Emma from our parents. She opens it and sees a pair of blue beats.
"Oh my gosh, thank you so much." Emma says and gives my parents big hugs.
After a while Emma has her beats, clothes, shoes, money, a bunch of gift cards, and a charm bracelet that Jake gave her. My parents have clothes, cooking supplies, tools, jewelry, and some movies. Jake has the shoes, a wallet, and a football signed my some famous player from Emma. I, have clothes, money, gift cards, and some shoes.
"Ok, we have one more gift and it's for Harper from me, and your dad." My mom says smiling. She hands me a small envelope and I widen my eyes in confusion. I got almost everything I asked for, which is more than enough.
I take the paper from my mom and open it carefully. Inside is a card and another sheet of paper, inside it reads;
You have an amazing gift, peruse it:)
love,
mom and dad.I look at the other piece of paper, all it says is go to he garage. I look at my parents and Emma and Jake in confusion. They all look at me with innocent looks and I stand up slowly to head to the garage. Everyone follows as I do. I put my hand on the cold handle of the door and twist. I open the door and then I see it. My mouth falls open and tears threaten to spill out of my eyes.
