Molly had been going to CVS everyday for the past week and every time she went Mark would come up to her and try to make small talk, but she would answer him in a monotone voice and a sharp quick one word answer. Mark could tell she was testing him and he was determined to not be shaken.
When she walked in today she saw him before he saw her so she ducked back down another aisle and found Claudia. He could hear them conversing and knew she was here now so he made his way over to them. Molly's back was to him talking to Claudia. Molly caught the suggestive head nod Claudia made and she knew Mark was behind her. She made to walk away before he could reach them but Claudia was working with him and effectively blocked her and when she turned around there Mark stood
"Hey."
"Sup."
"Do you think we could talk? I get a fifteen minute break, maybe we could go outside?"
"About what?"
"Please Molly."
"Fine." she huffed defeated and turned to Claudia mouthing "traitor" before turning back to follow Mark outside
They sat outside by the distributor side of the store, where they were completely alone
"Is this where you take me to kill me?" she joked cynically and he laughed
"Nope. I wanna ask you something?"
"What?"
"Do you wanna go out with me tonight? I know it's short notice and all but I mean it's Friday night. Shit you might have plans. Who am I kidding you do have plans don't you?--"
"Uhhh when you want me to answer just let me know."
"Forget I asked. Here let me try this again. Would you--"
"Yes." she answered before he could even finish his new question
"Yes what?"
"I'll go out with you tonight. I don't have any plans. If you still want."
He was shocked and his face started to turn red. He nodded.
"What time should I be ready by?"
"Well I get off at 8 so 9 if that's okay with you?"
"Alright and where should I meet you?"
"On Whimsy Street by the commons."
"And what should I wear? Like what will this date entail?"
"Casual is fine. And that is a surprise."
"Okay."
"So we're good?"
"Yup, I better go inside and tell Claudia I'm gonna head out. I'll see you later."
He smiled and watched her leave. She ran inside up and down the aisles screaming Claudia's name and almost knocking over an elderly woman when she found her.
"So what'd he ask you?"
"He asked me out for tonight."
"Ahhh really! Where are you guys going?"
"I don't know. He didn't tell me."
"Well I'm happy for you. What time are you going out?"
