*RE-FLASH FORWARD NOW PRESENT DAY*
"You've always been trying to find a way to push me away snd I wouldn't listen, but this time I'm doing what you asked. We're over. Don't worry you won't have to see my face anymore because I'm going back to school tomorrow. So I won't be bothering you anymore."
"You're suppossed to....I'm supposed.....We're supposed to have one more week together." Mark said panicking.
"I know about your plan. To let me go at the end of them summer. I go back to school and it's like a break but it's really not. It's a break up. If you wanted to be with me you would fight to be with me. Don't worry about it. As soon as I'm done packing here I won't be bothering you anymore."
"Whaa-What do you mean by that?"
"I won't come back for breaks. That's what you want right? I'll fully dedicate myself to finding a man at school. Plenty of worthy bachelors."
"No! I don't--I mean yes that's what I wanted but..." he bowed his head ashamed
"Just go." she said angrily through clenched teeth but never raising her voice as he began to walk out the door. Just before he left the room she said lastly "Tell Brilynne I'll be by tomorrow to say goodbye to her."
His heart jumped and ached painfully in his chest and it felt as though something had caught in his throat. He nodded his head silently then left her house for the last time.
As soon as he left Molly's tough exterior deteriorated and she crumbled onto her bed in ragged sobs.
*Mark's Point of View*
Mark had no idea how he was going to tell Brilynne, let alone look her in the eye. Luke was right, He had failed and it was all on him. Brilynne would never forgive him.
After taking the longest route possible to get to his home. He mentally prepared himself for whatever was to come, but no one could be completely prepared
Mark walked into the house and it looked like something was completely wrong. He said nothing as he entered the house. He walked by them all quietly and he almost reached the door to his room when he heard Brilynne say
"Daddy, are you okay?"
"Yes sweetheart. I'm just a little tired. I think I'm gonna go take a shower and go to bed."
"Dude you don't look so good."
"I don't feel so good."
"I'm gonna call Molly, maybe she can make you feel bet--"
"No don't call her. I'll be fine."
"Mark!"
"Daddy!"
He'd been caught. Brilynne was looking around at everyone and could tell there was something going on that was bigger than her and it definitely involved Molly. She knew her dad was at Molly's last night and now he was here and he looked sad and sick. The last time daddy looked like that he was telling her the story about how her mommy died.
"Is Molly okay? Is she dead?"
As soon as she asked that he instantly felt guilty and rushed to her and picked her up and comforted her because the tears started running down her face. He hated it when she cried. He hated that he wasn't telling her the truth
