Chapter 31

*Alice*

I hear a thumping noise, so I slowly sit up. Mavis is still sleeping, so maybe I just imagined it.

Thump.

There it is again! I shake Mavis, trying to wake up the sleepy girl.

"Mmwha...?" She mumbles into her pillow.

Thump.

"Did you hear that?" I whisper. She frowns and sits up.

"No."

"You didn't?"

"No. But I think the storm just started up again. It could be the metal hatch banging against the ground." I sigh.

"I guess you're right. Or my mind is playing tricks on me." I don't think I just imagined it though. But just in case, I have an apple and drink more water. You never know, I could be losing nutrients again.

All of a sudden, I hear a screeching noise, like metal against metal. I shudder.

"Did you hear that? Please tell me you did. I don't want to be going crazy now." Mavis laughs slightly.

"Yes, I heard it." I let out a sigh of relief.

"Ok good. What do you think it wa-"

"Shhh! I hear something...voices...and footsteps!" Mavis whispers. "Hide!" We both hide in the back, near the clothes.

"Alice? Mavis?" It's Harry! "I have a surprise for you..."

"Open the door." I whisper.

"Why me?!"

"Because if it's a trick, at least I'll have time to hide while you keep them occupied." There's a chuckle outside of the door.

"Yeah no way!"

"But you're inhuman! I'm weak and helpless! It's only fair that you do it." Mavis let's out a huff and crosses her arms.

"Fine." She slowly opens the door, and I can see Harry from where I'm hiding.

"Where's Alice?" He asks. Mavis lets out a sigh of relief.

"She's in here. Alice! It's just Harry." I slip out from my hiding spot. Harry smiles when he sees me. I can't help but smile too. I missed him, and the storm is getting worse...

"Come here." He says with open arms. I fling myself into them as Mavis starts taking our things out, and closing the closet door.

"I....I...missed you." I admit. He smiles and wraps his arms around me tightly.

"I missed you too." He lightly pecks my lips, and then there's an awkward cough in the back. Harry grins.

"What?" I ask, confused.

"My surprise for you." He says, his cheeky grin growing wider.

"What is it?" I ask, still confused.

"Why don't you take a look yourself?" Still smiling, he takes a step back. And guess who it is.

Dad, Jake, Matt...and Seth.

*Unknown*

"Come on, hurry up." I say, hitting the ship. Will this thing hurry up and work already?

Finally, the ship groans to life. I let out a huff. It's about time.

"Alright now, before they come..." I mutter to myself as I start the engine. The ship slowly starts to move forward like a plane, then tilts back. It starts to shake, then the rocket shoots in the air.

While the rocket is shooting up towards space, I can't help but open the window latch and peer out. I smirk.

"So long, suckers!" I call. Wow, this is gonna be a lot easier than I thought.

*Zayn*

YourDollHoll: What's going on?? Ever since the dance you've been ignoring me. My texts, my calls. You don't even come to school anymore! Can you please tell me what's up?

ZainPain: I don't want to talk about. So leave me alone and delete me from your contacts. I've moved on.

A lump forms in my throat as I stare down at the text I just sent Holly. Why am I doing this?

To protect her. From me.

I'm a monster, and I can't risk hurting anyone. So a few days after I became what I am today, I did some research. I found a witch far away, that could help me through this process.

Of course, this isn't gonna be easy, either. I'm in an endless forest now. Supposedly, no one ever makes it to the witch alive. Not even the supernatural. I'm still adjusting to this world, so I'm not sure if I'll make it.

First, to have to make it through The House Of Demons. Apparently it's an h' hole. But I'm a vampire now. Hopefully it won't be that hard.

I open up the map I had printed out with directions, and study it closely. All of these paths and directions...where am I, anyways? I don't even know.

I gaze off into the distance, and see that there's a mountain straight ahead. About 50 miles from where I am now. Then mountain must be the one from the article. The "unclimbable" one. That comes before The House Of Demons.

Great.

Well, I have to get to this witch. And, I am a vampire. So let's see if this mountain really is unclimbable.

I fold up the map and tuck it into my pocket. I then start off towards the mountain, at the speed of light.
