~Chapter 16~
"Who are we fighting for?
Gryffindor!
Coming out with a mighty roar!
We always come and top the score
Cause no ones better than Gryffindor!" The common room erupted in a loud frenzy as the tired players made their way through the portrait. The usual post-match party fever had long since began and James couldn't help the overwhelming pride he felt knowing it was his team under his orders that made this night a cheerful one.
The students still had a long while before anyone need be ready for the ball so why shouldn't they have a celebration in the common room?
"You guys were brilliant!"
"I admit I was a bit worried at first."
"Of course we won! Who better than Gryffindor?" Voices were calling out left and right, the room jam packed with Gryffindors all reliving the match.
"I'll be back in a bit, have to go make sure Crode's alright; girlfriend duties you know. Don't do anything crazy without me!" Nami shouted her head piece still roaring while exiting the portrait as Rebel, Lily, and Ivy wave a goodbye over giggles.
"You did great by the way Lily." Ivy complimented with an admiring smile. Lily shrugged with a smug look.
"Yeah, I did didn't I." The three girls erupt in more laughter as Lacey finally joins them.
"Where've you been?" Lily raises a brow at the cluster of items in Lacey's hands as well as the her disheveled appearance.
"Just got back from McGonangal's office, gosh that woman can scold the fun off a funmobile, but anyways I crashed into some random dweeb of a first year on my way over so I had to deal with that-"
"Damn those clumsy first years." Rebel mocked.
"I know! Need to watch where their walking; knocked everything out of my hands and all that. Anyways this is just some stuff I left in the you know where from the last meeting about you know what; figured I'd get it out before I forget and we never see it again." Lacey whispered in hushed tones toward Lily and Ivy who nodded automatically realizing what she was talking about. Rebel held a small knowing smile but erased it quickly pretending to be confused at the vague hinting.
"Who's ready for that ball tonight though!? Everyone know who their smooching?" The blonde winked making Ivy's cheeks heat up and Lily and Rebel burst into a fit of giggles.
*****
The common room was in a fit of scrambles; the most lively any of the Slytherin students had ever seen in ages. Fabric floating around making last minute adjustments on a few dresses. A few boys running around looking for their dress shoes, mostly Phaethon; and everyone else having a nice loud chat over one another about how lame this ball will probably be.
"You know for so much complaint; one would think these people were very excited to be going." Emelie snorted from behind a book. She, Albus, and Scorpius sat on one of the empty sofas by the warm fire place, watching everyone else act foolish.
"It's party Em, why shouldn't they be excited?" Albus says gaining nothing but a shrug in response.
"I'd just like to get on with dinner; I mean am I the only one here starving?" Scorpius groaned.
"You're always starving." Emelie rolled her eyes before reaching behind her sofa cushion and pulling out a something covered in a napkin and tossing it over Albus head for Malfoy to catch. Both boys peer into the unraveled paper to find a couple of ginger newts causing the blonde to scream in happiness.
