~Chapter 5~
"Well..." Ivy says flickering her eye sight everywhere but the Slytherin boy. Albus could already tell that was not a good sign.
"Well what?" He whisper trying to hide the defeat in his voice. She sighs finally glancing up to meet his saddened green eyes.
"Look Albus as tempting as the offer is, and as much as I've missed your friendship-"
"Don't do this." He cut her off his voice flattened. He was trying to control the anger bubbling inside his stomach.
"Albus-"
"Ivy," He interrupt her again. "I don't understand why you do this. You say you miss my friendship yet here you are rejecting it when it's being handed to you on a silver platter. Why can't you just accept the fact that staying away from me is killing you almost as much as it kills me?"
"Because I like my life Albus!" She shoots back no longer whispering. Albus stands taken aback for a moment, not interrupting her for once, so she decides to let all of her thoughts out in the open.
"Being friend's with you was great Albus, I'll never regret it but I can't just go back like that. I have an uncomplicated life with and uncomplicated boyfriend and I'm enjoying it. I have been for the last 5 years and I don't want to give that up. I have too much to loose now Albus, I can't just throw all of it away because you decide to man up now and suggest we become friends again. We had 5 whole years to try and nothing happened. I don't see why it should happen now. We're sixth years for Merlin's sake, our life here is almost over. Why would I want to ruin it now?" Ivy finally finished more quietly that when she began.
The green eyed boy stood stunned; staring into the eyes of the girl he had always seen himself with since the day she stepped into their compartment on the train. He had planned to date her throughout their school years, be her firsts for everything and she his. He had planned to marry her the moment he felt it was right after they left Hogwarts and settled down into a home, some place probably in London; or even travel the world with her if that's what she wanted.
Albus wanted all those things with Ivy since he was eleven years old but hearing her say that she'd rather stay with James; that taking another chance on him, even just as friends, wasn't worth the risk of her perfect happy life hurt him dearly.
But not enough.
Ivy turned away from him ready to step away from the tree and trail off to the direction their classmates and Hagrid had gone when he pulled her back to him. He place his hands on either side of her cheeks and stare down into her eyes with his own pleading ones.
"Please?" He whispers causing Ivy's insides to churn. She couldn't take sad, pleading Albus Potter; he was one of her many weaknesses when it came to the Slytherin boy. She only shake her head which encouraged him to let her go, slowly allowing his fingertips to graze her cheeks softly as a way to of saying goodbye to the feeling he got when he touched her.
Ivy turn around complete ready to head off before she was stopped once again by his voice.
"I love you." was all he said and it was more like a whisper as if it was the very last thing he could mutter after having to watch her leave a second time. Ivy close her eyes wanting to say something back but not trusting herself that it would be something sane. So she did the only thing she could do; she ran as fast as she could down the trail. She wasn't even sure if this is where their class had gone but she didn't care; as long as she got away from the oh so head spinning Potter boy.
She finally came to a stop wen she heard voices; recognizing a few from Gryffindor house proving she did indeed find her way back to them. She joined the group at the back but trailed a little behind not wanting to draw any attention to herself. It was then that she finally noticed the feel of water dripping down her cheeks and the painful sting in her chest that wasn't from her sprinting around in the forest.
