~Chapter 1~

"And remember to write us this year Rose, you know how your father worries." Mrs Weasly says adjusting the collar on Rose's shirt. Rose only responds with a roll of the eyes and a smile nodding to her mother who seemed to make this a ritual every year before sending her children off. You would think by her third year her mother would stop worrying so much, but no; even at the age of sixteen Rose still receives "the lecture".

"Who's worrying? My girl knows how to handle herself right Rosie?" Mr. Weasly asks.

"Of course daddy. Excel in my studies, stay away from boys, and if I see Malfoy hex him to oblivion." Rose recites with a smile at her father, trying not to laugh at her mother's expression.

"Honestly Ronald! Teaching her things like that?"

"Potter alert!" Rose's younger brother, Hugo, announces once he spies his cousin's familiar red hair. Hugo, like everyone else in their family, was a sucker for his favorite cousin Lily.

"Oh finally!" Rose yelped breaking from her mother's clutches and started toward her cousin Albus.

"And look out for your brother!" Hermione called lastly being dragged off by her husband toward the Potters as the group of children made their way to the train.

"Rose." James nod in her direction before hopping aboard the train. Rose and her elder cousin were never that really close. But ever since what happened her first year, an even bigger wall grew between them. She was always in support of Albus even though she remained friends with those in Gryffindor.

"Afternoon Rosie." Lily's gentle voice rang in her ears. Lily, a spitting image of her mother, beams up at her older cousin.

"And afternoon to you too Lil. Alright today?" Rose smiled back. She adored her younger cousin with all her heart. Lily was as sweet and kind as they come; when she's not getting into trouble for wandering the halls at the wrong times that is.

"Quite the bee's knees actually; see you on the train!" the girl smiles running off, dragging Hugo along behind her.

Rose finally let her attention fall upon her favorite cousin, Albus Potter. The two had been through quite a lot these past years. Dealing with the fact that he's a Slytherin and is more than disliked because of it; not to mention having to deal with the hardest most dreadful part of his life, seeing the girl he loves with someone else.

"How was your summer?" she asked giving her usual hug and smile before the two began their walk to the train doors. They only had so much time before they were to separate on the train.

"Not too bad actually. It was a lot quieter with James gone. Good family time I'd say." he responded with a shrug of the shoulders.

"Ah, that's right. It was his summer away again huh?"

"Mmm, seemed to enjoy himself very much."

"When does he not?" They two teens broke into laughter at that statement , finally entering the train; the doors closing loudly behind them. The train began it's slow movement and the two automatically zoomed to the nearest window waving their parent's off like they did every year. Once the train left the station, and their parents were out of sight, Rose and Albus slowly walked down the isles looking for their usual compartments.

"Did you at least get a glimpse of her this summer?" Rose asked quietly as not to draw any attention toward the two.

"Not even one; heard she's gotten more beautiful though." Albus said with a sad smile. Rose felt for her cousin. She couldn't believe it had been five years and nothing had resolved between he and her best friend Ivy Thomas. Apparently, much to Albus dismay, Ivy meant it when she said she wanted no contact with him at all.
