Barry

I return to the car, remembering Megan mention my journal. I take it out from the back seat pocket, along with the car keys. Sighing in relief when I see it's fine, I open the secret flap on the back cover to check if my mom's photo is still there. Along with the letter from her, the picture is tucked in safely, and I thank the stars for that.
"You sure you're not overreacting?" I hear a faint voice. I look around to see two figures, both tall and well built, one more on the slim side, behind the trees. Not knowing there was a lake there, a small gasp escapes my lips, and I mentally scold myself for making noise.
"You almost killed my sister, Parks! What do you expect me to do? Invite you to tea?" another voice yells.
Hiding near the trees with my beloved journal clutched to my chest, I try listening in. What? A girl isn't allowed to be curious?
'Hey, genius. Won't you be late?'
'Oh, shut up.'
"Dude, your sister got drunk. Whose fault is th-"
"Don't you dare blame her, Parks. You shouldn't have let her drive in the first place." Buff man interrupts.
Holy fudge, is that Matt?
'Good job, Sherlock.'
Matt sighs. "Listen, I don't know what it is you want from me, but if yo-"
Yet again, he gets cut off. "Can you swim?"
"What?"
"Can. You. Swim?" The big guy asks again, low and slow.
"Not really." Matt admits with a shrug.
I knew he doesn't have a brain. I just knew it.
"Interesting." Buff guy nods his head slowly. I see him take out something from his back pocket. An anti-cutter.
Because everyone carries an anti-cutter with them in their pockets.
Before I know it, Barry (random name I gave to buff boy) approaches towards Matt, slowly and threateningly, pointing the blade at him. Matt keeps taking a step back as Barry takes a step front, and I squeeze my eyes shut in the hope of everything changing within the time I open my eyes.
Alas, the world is a cruel place, and before I can open my eyes, I hear a splash, followed by water splashing around everywhere. I open my eyes to see Matt struggling to stay afloat.
The more you struggle, the more you drown, moron.
'I am pretty sure Matt can't read minds, Lucy.'
'Would you leave already?'
Panic takes over me, as I think of what to do. I can't let a person - no matter how annoying they are - drown and die in front of me. I got involved by eavesdropping, and now I have to pay my price
Imma go superman, who can't fly, is weak and clumsy, on this. I tip toe to 'Barry' with the hood on my hoodie on, and hit him straight on the head with the corner of my journal (the cover is made of hardboard), without giving him a chance to defend himself. I get taken back when he collapses and instantly gets attacked by a third figure.
He punches the living daylights out of Barry, and since he was already weak from my hit, he can't fight back.
"Don't just stand there! At least you can swim, right?!" The figure yells, and I nod at Nathan Smith, throwing my journal beside a rock and jumping in the water.
