"Fuck you, Matt Parks!"

"I'm a taken man."

"Fuck you anyways."

"My loyalties lie elsewhere."

"Can the two of you shut up?"

Well, there goes my nap.

I drag my eyes open, momentarily confused by the change of scenery. But then, I remember.

I moved back this morning. I was greeted by Jason at the front door, who eased my nerves by informing me that Barbara would be home a week later. Her Majesty has a boutique to take care of in New Jersey.

As I sit up, I blink a fee times to get my vision to focus, stretching my limbs while letting out a muffled sound.

The new room I'm in is nice enough, the second guest room of the Scott's Residence.

A handsome room with a double sized bed, a dresser to its right with a full length mirror beside it and nightstands on either side of the bed. The walls are a creamy white, bed-sheets pale blue. A mini bookshelf stands timidly by the door.

I will myself to stand up, and when I do I walk towards the window to the right of the bed that overlooks the backyard, where my brother and his two best friends are at the pool.

I yawn, cringing at my breath, and upon glancing at the mirror, my face as well.

Is it normal to look this repulsive? I think as I stare at my knotted hair, dried up drool going down from one corner of my mouth, and the two mosquito bites on my left cheek.

Exhaling, I make my way to the bathroom down the hall, where I brush my teeth, wash my face and run a brush through my hair. I retie the string on my cotton shorts before going down the stairs and into the backyard.

"Ayeee, it's Lucy!" Matt cheers.

"Blondie!" Nathan cries, jumping slightly so he causes the water to slosh around.

I wave with a smile, sitting down on the lounge chair, elbows on my thighs as I rest my cheeks on my palms.

My eyes trail to Matt, who begins to climb out of the pool. The air is knocked out of me as I watch droplets of water slide down his tan torso.

Swallowing, I avert my gaze to the towel behind me, which I toss to Matt, mainly to seem casual. He chuckles, wiping himself before leaning down to place a kiss on my lips.

"Welcome home."

"Doesn't feel like that anymore." I mumble honestly. This house stopped being home over a decade ago.

Matt frowns, sitting down beside me, his cold knee brushing mine.

"You feeling alright?" Concern lines his honeyed voice.
