As Lucy enters the house, I wait thirty seconds just in case, before driving off.

The grin doesn't leave my face.

I have been smiling, one way or the other, ever since she said...well, she didn't say it, so I guess ever since she nodded, agreeing to be my girlfriend.

Damn, I think to myself, I have a girlfriend.

How long has it been since the last time I said that? A year? Maybe two?

I internally squeal like a fangirl.

Remembering my promise to Nathan about telling him about how the whole thing went down, I call him and put him on speaker.

"IS IT OFFICIAL?!" He greets. I can practically feel his excitement through the screen.

"IT IS!" I holler back, playing along.

To my surprise, I hear cheering in the background, and not just from Nathan.

What the fuck.

"Guys, shhh! I want to ask him all about it!" Nathan scolds.

"What the hell? Who's with you?"

"The entire team, minus Alan. He's in Dubai." Nathan replies casually.

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. "Did we have practice or something?"

"No. I invited them so we can all celebrate your victory today. Well, we also had beer ready in case she said no, so I guess we formed a support gr-"

I don't let him finish. "Are you serious?"

"What?" he asks incredulously. Nathan is on a different level of strange.

Huffing, I chuckle a little to myself. "Nothing. Nothing at all."

Someone takes the phone from him, because I hear Nathan protest, "Hey!"

"Matt, get your ass to Smith's house, man!" It sounds like Imani. "We're happy for you, and want to celebrate with you."

"Guys, I didn't get engaged or anything." I try playing it off as cool, when in reality, this is a really big deal to me.

"Shut up, asshole! Nate told us all about how giddy you got over her."

"Nate!" I yell into the phone, hearing chuckling and hollering.

"He wasn't supposed to know that. He was not supposed to know that!"

Because of peer pressure, and a bribe of pretzel sticks, I make my way to Nathan's house.

The Smiths' resident is like a big bachelor pad. Without a female touch to the house, due to Nathan's parents getting divorced two years ago, the entire house was pretty much designed to scream masculinity.

The front door's unlocked, so I let myself in since it's practically my second home.

"I think I just heard the door." I hear Nate from upstairs. and then heavy steps down the stairs as my tan friend runs towards me and throws himself at me to hug me, slapping my back exaggeratedly and shaking my shoulders.
