"Here you are, dear." Megan's mother, Linda, smiles warmly at me. Her features are similar to Megan's - dark hair, brown eyes and porcelain skin. Usually, she's well dressed and quite formal, but seeing as it's quite late, she's wearing an oversized shirt and sweatpants.
"Thank you so much, Linda. I really hope this isn't too much." I mumble.
She shakes her head. "Oh, of course not. I've been wanting you to move in with us ever since I've heard about how atrocious that woman is. You just rest, okay sweetie? I'll fix all the legal documents tomorrow." Linda kisses my forehead and leaves me in the guest room.
The room is quite nice, a queen sized bed facing an electric fireplace with a flat screen attached on top. There's a plush sofa beside the fireplace and a bathroom perpendicular to the room's door.
I stare at the wardrobe attached to the wall. Contemplating whether to leave unpacking for tomorrow or do it today, I decide on unpacking half tonight before going to sleep.
Fifteen minutes in, there's a knock on the door. Heather, Megan's sister, pokes her head through when I allow her entrance, and she smiles at me.
She's twenty two of age, dirty blonde hair and grey eyes like her dad, along with tan skin.
"Hey, you need any help settling in?" She offers, glancing at my suitcases.
I shrug. "Only if you've got time."
She grins and sits down on the carpeted floor beside me. She takes out clothes and places them neatly on the stacks I kept in the shelf section.
"You know, I was hoping you'd decide staying with us sooner." She says while re-folding one of my sweatshirts.
I offer her a tight lipped smile. Ever since Megan and I became friends, I've been close with her whole family. Living a few houses away had its perks.
"When do you leave for Chicago?" I ask about her job destination, where she'll be a publisher.
"In two weeks." She answers, not looking at me. "I'll have to look for an apartment when I get there, though."
I chuckle at her unenthusiastic expression, brushing some hair out of my face. "So, when will work actually start?"
"A week after I get there. I'll stay at a hotel till I find a suitable apartment. Mom and dad told me they'd pay my rent for the first month, but I'm pretty much on my own after that."
I nod as an acknowledgement. We end up unpacking more than half my clothes, and soon she goes to sleep. I brush my teeth and head to bed too, knowing that tomorrow will be a whole lot different.
My phone holds two texts from Jason when I unlock it.
Hey, you settling in okay?
I'll be over tomorrow morning, so let me know before that if you need me to bring you anything, okay?
I reply back, I'm okay, Jay. I don't need anything. See you tomorrow.
Locking my phone, I close my eyes and let my mind trail where it wants. From pizza to Barbara, the last thing I think of before falling asleep is riding on a bike after committing a crime.

"I want the car!" Megan whines, glaring at Nathan, who stole the little car.
A while ago Jason came by, soon joined by Matt and Nathan who were granted permission to come here by Megan when they couldn't find Jay at his house.
