Chocolate Chips & Maple Syrup

A breakfast date? That's cute." Megan comments.

"I guess." I mumble with a giddy smile on my face.

"Can you wake up, though?"

"Course I can. When have I not woken up on time for something?"

"Today morning is one example." She deadpans, making me hit her.

"I didn't have a date this morning."

"Afternoon, more like."

"Shut up, Megan." I roll my eyes and she pokes her tongue out at me.

"A date where you can wear your pyjamas. Matt sounds like a keeper to me."

I shrug, trying to be nonchalant, but the very present blush on my cheeks gives my excitement away. Megan only smiles warmly.

"You should go to sleep, then. Lord knows you won't have an easy time waking up."

And she was right. I was supposed to wake up twenty minutes ago, meaning now I have to rush to get ready.

But then it hits me.

Im already wearing pajamas and I no longer have to spend seventeen hours managing my hair. So technically, I'm early.

I quickly brush my teeth, wash my face and run a brush through my hair. Luckily, I showered last night before going to sleep to save time.

Also because I cannot, for the life of me, shower in the morning.

It just feels wrong. All I can do is think of all the dirt and grime I'll acquire by the time the day ends. And then I'll have to sleep with all that dirt and grime.

The thought causes me to shudder.

With time to spare, I decide to change into my cuter set of pyjamas, rummaging through the closet to find the ones Heather gave me last Christmas.

My stomach grumbles as Matt texts me, saying he's downstairs. Nervously, I climb down the stairs and head out.

Matt has his hands on the steering wheel, fingers tapping the surface as he leans forward with hooded eyes.

He looks so...cute.

Upon getting closer, I notice that his hair is wet and  floppy and he's blowing raspberries with his lips, the air causing the hair that's fallen on his forehead to move around slightly.

He turns his head as I open the door, smiling for a moment before his lips turn downwards.

"I was going to open the door for you. Im sorry."

"Thats alright." I giggle, strapping myself in. "You look tired."

"And you look adorable." He replies, grinning as he starts his car. "I'm not tired, by the way, just a little agitated. My hairdryer broke, Lucy. I think I cursed myself when I said that I don't care if you mess up my hair. I wanted to use mom's but it doesn't have the heat settings mine did. Which should explain the state of my hair."

I process his words, shaking my head at his concern for his hair. "You honestly look kinda cute." I comment, not lying one bit.

"Do you really think that, Lucy? Are you sure you're not just trying to make me forget about my sorrows?" He utters dramatically.
