When I knock on the door belonging to the Alpha's home, Caleb answers it and I awkwardly stand there, fidgeting with the strap of my bag.
"Are you okay... from before?" He asks.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I asked and failed to mask the shake in my voice.
"I know Daisy can be a bit much and it must have taken a lot for you to say something back..."
I shrugged and looked down at my feet.
"Come on in, don't just stand there." Caleb opens the door wider to let me in.
As I walk in, I notice how he'd changed from his jeans and shirt to a pair of basketball shorts and a vest. I blush when Caleb catches me staring at his bare arms and I look away quickly.
"I'm here for Delilah." I explain after a moment of silence.
"She's upstairs in the same room as the last time you came." He points to the stairs.
"Caleb!" Micah's dominating voice booms from outside, followed by an inpatient growl.
"Gotta go." Caleb throws me a wink before running out.
I watch as he leaps into his dark brown wolf form, his fur a silk coat covering his strong wolf as muscles bunch and relax when he runs into the forest, disappearing between the thick trees.
Closing the door behind me, I race up the stairs and reach the bedroom. I knock and the door opens abruptly, Delilah surprises me by handing me a gurgling Thea and rushing into the bathroom. I nestle the baby's face against the crook of my neck as I close the door and pace around the room, gently bouncing as the little pup nuzzles into my neck.
The toilet flushing breaks the silence which follows by a running tap and Delilah walking back into the bedroom.
"I'm so glad you came, I was bursting to go but I didn't want to leave Thea on her own." She sighs, bringing a bottle and handing it to me.
I guess she wanted me to feed her daughter too.
"Am I stopping you from doing anything? I don't want you in trouble." Delilah freezes suddenly.
I shake my head and take the luke-warm bottle.
"Great, do you mind taking care of her while I catch up on sleep? Jazz is out with Caleb and Micah." She smiles thankfully as she climbs under the covers.
"Sure."
I grab a handful of diapers as well as blankets and shove a pack of wipes under my arm before leaving the bedroom.
...
With the TV on mute and Thea sleeping deeply in my arms, I almost drop my head in sleep but the sudden thud of the door bouncing against the wall as it opens, jerks me awake.
Three sweaty, shirtless bodies stream in, laughing and shoving at each other as they are oblivious of the sleeping form in my arms.
"Sh!" I plead sharply.
Micah, Caleb and Jazz freeze and fall silent as they glance over at me and sleeping Thea.
"Oh damn, did I wake her?" Jazz rushes to his daughter, concern showing on his dark brows.
"I don't think... you're sweating." I grimace and step back when he tries to take his clean daughter into his arms.
"Best hit the shower before little Thea chokes on your fumes, bro." Caleb chuckles whilst looking at me at the same time.
I bite my bottom lip to stop myself from laughing as Jazz shoves at Caleb before running up the stairs. Caleb moves to approach me but his eyes suddenly brighten to an amber honey colour and tips his head back as he sniffs the air. I glance at Micah in question but his eyes are also the same colour, only he isn't lost in the scent like Caleb; a scent that I couldn't smell.
