[Dmitri's POV]

The Alpha had to be watched by his Beta throughout the whole night as his beast took full form, making sure that nobody could hear or see him in this state.

It happened after every full moon.

As soon as the sun rises, Dmitri is finally able to take control and shift back to his normal self. Logan stands from the chair in the far corner of the underground room and walks to the cage, unlocking the door for Dmitri.

In his weakened state, Dmitri struggles to stand and suddenly accepts help from his Beta to walk out.

"When are you going to tell her?" Logan murmurs as they take the stairs.

"I don't know, she's not ready to find out yet." Dmitri mutters back.

He hated seeing his mate upset and he didn't want to see Cass further disturbed by his inner demons whilst she still mourns her parents.

Clark had helped a great deal in finding out what group of rogues had involved themselves in the murder of his mate's parents but Dmitri still didn't know where they are and who had made a deal with them.

When the Alpha and his Beta reach the ground floor of his home, Dmitri instantly senses something wrong in the air. Using the little energy, he leans away from Logan and lifts his nose to get a better feel of the air around him.

Why couldn't he sense Cassandra?

Dmitri's whole body stiffen and he whirls around to face Logan.

"Where is she?" he snarls.

Logan narrows his brows and flares his nose in search for his Luna but he also comes up empty. Dmitri rushes upstairs and bursts into the bedroom; the door slamming closed as he enters and his steel grey gaze zones in on the small piece of paper on top of the bed.

He snatches the paper up and quickly scans through it.

Dmitri,

I can't do this whole Luna thing right now. I need some time on my own to figure things out right now. As my mate, I'm just asking you to understand and I'm sorry I've left this way but it's the only way.

Cassandra

Dmitri scrunches the piece of paper up in his fist and lets out a roar filled with both pained rejection and anger. Before registering his action, Dmitri drives a fist through the nearest wall, ripping through and destroying everything around him.

[Cassandra's POV]

I hadn't realised I had fallen asleep until I feel the bright sun warming my face. Squinting against its glare, I shield my eyes and yawn.

"We'll make a stop soon, you must be hungry." Clark says, passing me a water bottle.

I take a couple of refreshing gulps and stretch, humming in agreement as I look the scenery before us; nothing but road.

"How long have you been driving?" I ask, looking over his face and not finding any signs of tiredness.

"Almost ten hours." He shrugs.

"Do you want me to drive so you can catch up on sleep?"

"You don't know where we're going." He turns to me on a smirk.

I slap my forehead and remind my brain to not say stupid things.

"Where exactly are we going?"

"Uncharted."

My feet slip from the dash board and I choke slightly on my spit; Clarks lets out a small laugh as he pats my back.

"As in the Uncharted Pack?" My eyes bulge.

"That's the one." He nods.

"But...that pack is full of Lycans!"

Not to mention that pack was mostly testosterone filled males; how the hell does their Luna cope?

"Says the one who was surrounded by Blood Moon Werewolves for almost two months; they're not much different from the Lycans." Clark snorts.

"At least we have order." I bite back on a smirk.

"I promise they won't bite; they're just Lycans." He shrugs.

We both look at each other and it takes a second for us to burst out laughing; that was a major understatement.

The Uncharted pack were known for being a horny bunch but ever since the Ancient Immortal Council gifted them with the positional to be bound to a mate, their tendencies seemed to have simmered down a little... only a little.

...

We make a stop at a gas station with an agonizing small cafe and I order some chicken and fries whilst Clark orders a large beef burger.

"What? I'm hungry!" he widens his bright blue eyes on a helpless shrug when I eye the enormity of it.

After a few silent moments of eating and attempting to ignore the background country music, I decide to kill my curiosity.

"So... where did you live after your father took you away?" I ask.

"I stayed in the WoodCreak Pack for a while until I meet my mate who's from the Uncharted Pack."

"So you actually live there?" I raise my brows in surprise.

"Like I said, the Lycans aren't that bad once you get to know them, just be firm and they'll listen. They won't mess with you once you stand up for yourself."

I nod slowly and try to look convinced but Clark laughs at me.

I wish Mom could see us now, she'd be happy we'd met and dad would have been just as supportive; I was sure he would've been willing to take care of a child who wasn't his.

Pushing the grief to the back of my mind, I remember Micah's words of rebuilding myself from it and carrying on. As soon as we finish, we're back on the road and Clark turns the radio up.

...

When we enter The Uncharted territory the air changes and I peer through the trees in hope to find any Lycans.

"I don't think we should tell them who you're mated to for their safety as well as yours." Clark advises and I agree on a curt nod.

I didn't want to think about Dmitri for a while.

He turns a sharp corner and suddenly there are people everywhere; The Uncharted Pack was bigger than I thought.

I climb out of the car after Clark and stand slightly behind him; scanning through the growing crowd who had taken an interest in observing the stranger – me.

My eyes catch a pair of familiar hazel ones and I register the tall brooding frame and slightly curly hair before my brain recognizes who it is.

Micah!
