in life there are usually times where your heart just completely stops. you experience the most horrible feeling ever, and sometimes you don't even understand what's going on. like the time your dog got ran over. or the time your parents told you they're getting a divorce. even the times where a friendship blows up in flames. moral is that those moments are the type that you don't want to live, never in a billion years.

when alaska dropped to the ground, that was how jack felt.

he remembered looking over at her, and seeing how content and happy she looked with sammy. he remembered the fury he felt at sammy. and then, he remembered how his heart felt like he dropped a thousand stories when she collapsed.

jack ran his fingers through his hair, pulling at the ends of it, because all he wanted to do was punch the wall. he felt frustrated, frustrated that he didn't know what was going on with her. frustrated that he didn't know her condition, and how bad it may be. frustrated that he wasn't there to protect her.

he turned around, and stormed at sammy. "what the hell did you do?" he spoke through gritted teeth.

sammy's eyes had widened at jack's sudden outburst, but he had expected it. he knew it came, but it still caught him off guard. "woah dude," he breathed, pushing jack's weight off of him.

"don't act all friendly with me," jack fumed. "what did you do to her?"

sammy looked at his friend, and he suddenly felt infuriated. "you have no right. no goddamn right, okay?" sammy had taken steps forward, so now they were chest to chest. "you were the one ignoring her the whole day. you were the one that just threw her away like some worthless piece of shit to flirt and have fun with lacy instead. you were the one who broke her heart. you were the one who caused her pain first." sammy then moved backwards and released his hands from the fist-form they were in. "you have no right to blame me for stuff i clearly didn't do. for accompanying her when she felt lonely, because of you. you should have been there for her, and just because you weren't, you have no right to be furious at me. i'm furious with you!"

"calm down! the both of you!" scarlette screamed at the both of them, shaking her head. "i'm disappointed," she said, glancing at the two boys. "our friend is in there, because god knows what and all you guys can do is argue."

sammy bit his tongue, because there was so much more he wanted to say. he didn't know why, but he cared for alaska. he cared for her so much it shocked him to the point where he had to take a step back. he knew she was a wonderful girl, and maybe some day down the line, he could even see himself falling for her. he knew better though, and he knew what she wanted.

it's like the doctor caught hind of their tension, because in less than ten seconds, he stalked in with a clipboard in his hands. all of them - besides lacy who was sulking in the corner, feeling defeated with jack's now sudden disinterest in her - rushed to his side.

"how is she?" jack asked impatiently.

"i'm only supposed to inform her family members, but seeing that her only guardian, her dad, won't pick up any of our calls or get back to us about his daughter, i don't see what else i can do." he sighed, and went through the papers on his clipboard. "it seems as though alaska's nearing the verge of an eating disorder. she seemed to have passed out, because there's not a lot of nutrients in her system. i want you guys to look after her. make sure she takes good care of herself. she's already weak as it is."
