chapter thirty three - july 30

"You will not believe this!" Aqua exclaimed, jumping on Alaska's back. She had been seated on their couch, waiting for Aqua to be finished with her phone call so that they could get back to watching 'A Walk to Remember.' She even got her tissues ready.

"Aqua! Why in the world?" she exclaimed, tilting over a bit so Aqua landed right next to her on the couch. Aqua wiped her fallen, messy hair out of her face before smiling widely at Alaska. "This huge smile is starting to look very creepy. What is it?" she questioned with a weird out look on her face.

Aqua shrieked and lightly jumped from the couch. Her face calmed down from the excitement a bit as she got ready to explain. "You know that we, meaning Gray, Molly, and I, travel the world a lot." Alaska nodded in comprehension, still not understanding where this was headed. "Well, we actually get paid to do that. Visit places, promote their stuff on social media."

"What? So you guys are like internet famous?" Alaska questioned.

Aqua nodded. "Yeah, I guess we kind of are. Anyways, earlier this year, we, along with our team decided that we should open up a website. You know for some clothing line Molly's working on, health and fitness tips from me and Gray, also advice about anything. We also have reviews of the places we visit and post tons of pictures on there. We needed a photographer, seeing that we're diving into that, and dipping in modeling." Aqua held onto Alaska's hand and shrieked again. "I recommended you, and they said yes! We're starting in August, and you can leave with us. I know you always wanted to become a photographer, but didn't know how. This could be a stepping stone to you being a big name one day."

She didn't speak for a moment, trying to wrap her head around the news. "Y - you want me to travel the world with you guys?" she asked to make sure.

"Yes! It'd be so much fun!" she exclaimed happily.

"I-I don't know," she stammered. This was all so sudden, and she didn't expect all of her dreams to come true this quickly. She hadn't even saved up money from college, and with partial scholarship offers, she still couldn't pay it off. She thought it'd take a few more years to be able to leave the place she had always wanted to leave. Now that it was here, she just didn't know.

Aqua's happiness slipped from her face. "What do you mean you don't know?" she asked, confused.

"What about Jack?" she questioned.

Aqua's eyes softened in realization. She squeezed her friend's hand in comfort. "I know you love him, but this is what you wanted your whole life," she reminded her.

"What if plans change?" she asked quietly, looking down.

"That's okay if they did, for right reason. Don't throw everything away for him. He loves you too, and I'm sure he'd want your best interest at heart. You know he'd be okay with it, so what's the matter?"

"What if I'm not okay with it?" she asked, tears gathering around her eyes. She suddenly realized that she may be given an ultimatum where she loses every time. "I can't just leave him."

Aqua sighed. "Look, Alaska, I love you. I really do, and that's why I did this for you. I know you. I know that this is all you've ever wanted, and still want to this very day. You may have meant someone who means equally as much to you as this, but that doesn't change the plans you've made, does it? It may add some complications, but the people who are meant in your life will continue to stay in your life even with this change. I know that you love Jack. Trust me, I do. I know that you're scared to live life without him, but haven't you realize that you've been fine without him these past couple weeks?"
