chapter three - june 10, 2015

"So when do you get out of work?" Jack asked her.

Her eyes widened as she remembered that she was still at work. She was supposed to be waiting on customers right now, not talking to Jack.

She quickly rushed out of the door in hopes that Mr. Walter didn't notice her disappearance. She peaked at look at the door to see him still watching videos on his computer. Only this time, he wasn't watching some innocent cat videos.

She turned her head answer immediately to protect her virgin eyes. She couldn't believe that he was watching such explicit videos at a well-known diner where customers could most likely see. Once again, chances are it's, in fact, him who is scaring away all of our customers.

Jack had quickly followed the girl out of the restroom. She had taken off like lightning that it surprised him for a full ten seconds before he shook it off a followed after her, worried that something was wrong. The panic-stricken expression on her face was all enough for him to be even more concerned about the girl.

He went out of the restroom and saw her facing him, with her back to all the customers. His heart sped up thinking she was waiting for him, but then he looked at her closely to see that her face was flushed red and she had a disgusted look on her face. His mood went down, worried that she was disgusted by him.

He slowly walked over to her, and carefully placed one of his hands on her shoulder. He cringed, thinking she would pull away from his touch like he usually did, but was pleasantly surprised when she didn't.

"What's wrong?" He asked her.

She shook her head, trying to get rid of those disturbing thoughts. She then looked up at Jack and was completely puzzled as to why concern was flashing in his eyes. "I'm alright," she spoke softly, still confused. "I have to get back to work."

He grabbed onto her wrist before she could go away. Her gaze drifted to his hand on her, and she just stared at it.

Jack, thinking that he had made her uncomfortable, let go of her hand almost immediately. He didn't want for their relationship or whatever she wanted to call this, take a few steps backward instead of forward.

Although, she didn't feel uncomfortable under his touch at all. In fact, she felt the complete opposite. She felt all these kinds of tingles running through her, and she swears that she could feel on the little hairs on her hand raise up due to the major goosebumps she was feeling. Somehow just by that one touch, she felt at ease with the world, almost as if she were floating with no care in the world. So no, she wasn't uncomfortable. If anything, she was more terrified for her immense feelings for him.

He scratched the back of his neck, and she realized that he did it often whenever he was nervous. The thought that she was making him as nervous as he was with her, made her almost smile.

"You told me if we met again, you'd tell me your name," he reminded her, and he had said it so shyly, he wanted to gut himself. He wanted to appear confident in front of her.

She blinked. She had completely forgotten about the small promise she had made. At the time, she would have never thought that she would see him again because their two worlds don't mix. That's why she had said that. She couldn't help but think if it were fate, but she instantly shut that stupid thought down.

She only smirked at him, before going over to the counter, grabbing the plates of food, and walking away. She made sure to bump past him, and whisper to him, "I think your date is getting antsy."

She had walked past him and instantly shut her eyes in embarrassment. She didn't know what she was doing. Was she flirting with him? Or trying to?

He watched after her in awe, before shaking his head to rid of any thoughts about her. He headed to his table where Katie still sat and was mildly disappointed to see that their food was already there. He had hoped that the girl would come his way again.
