looking back, i've realized how shitty my plot has been & just the transition of it so i'm so sorry but i'll definitely touch it up major time once i'm finished with the whole thing. on the other note, i really like this chapter & i hope you do too!

chapter twenty six - july 28

Jack felt absolutely horrible the next day, since it was following the day after their slight downfall. He wanted to make the most out of their short time. He wanted to show her the world, before he lost his world... wait what?

He felt the need to shower her with presents, and honestly, it was freaking him out. He has just begun to realize how much she meant to him, and that scared him a lot. He wanted to do all these things for her that he had never even planned doing for someone else. He had ditched some sick parties and said no to hanging with friends, because he wanted to be with her instead. He had caught himself over the past couple of days just thinking about her constantly, and thinking about the love he felt around her.

And to be completely, completely honest, he couldn't be more lost. He didn't understand these feelings. He didn't understand this overwhelming emotion he was feeling. He didn't understand this level of vulnerability he gets concerning all things relating to her.

He felt like he knew exactly what was going on, but he couldn't just believe in that fact. To him, those thoughts had never occurred, and he believed it wouldn't appear this early. All he had ever known seemed to be falling out of his grasp, and it was all because of her. She made him question things that he was so sure about, and he didn't like it. He didn't like feeling so lost.

"I don't know what's going on," he breathed into his phone as soon as his best friend, Jack, picked up the phone and greeted him.

"So now you decide to talk to me?" Jack said trying to sound mad, but Johnson knew that he was just messing around with him.

"Bro, I'm serious," he said. "I don't understand this thing with - you know - about - like Scarlette?"

Gilinsky took about a second to take that all in before questioning, "What?"

"I don't know how to deal with Alaska," he sighed.

"What do you mean?"

He closed his eyes, and ran his fingers through his hair, seeming really frustrated about this. "I don't know what I mean! I messed up, and I - she took me back! She forgave me and I - I shouldn't have let her. Why is she so difficult?"

"Wait," Gilinsky said before pausing, wanting to make sure he got everything clearly. "You're mad at her for forgiving you? Shouldn't you be happy about how understanding she is?"

"But she's too understanding! She doesn't deserve me breaking her down and building her back up again! She deserves someone who can love her unconditionally without no doubts!" He screamed at Gilinsky, but it seemed like he was screaming mostly at himself.

Gilinsky sighed with a faint smile playing on his lips. "You love her, dude. That's why you're so worked up. You are literally, like legit in love with her. What do girls say? Head over heels? Yeah, you're head over heels in love with her. What's so wrong about that?"

He closed his eyes again, and leaned his head against the wall. "I don't know, man," he sighed, not even trying to deny what his best friend said.

"So you do love her?" he questioned, but he wasn't really expecting an answer anytime soon. He knew what his best friend was like. "Then stop messing up. Show her that you do deserve her. You love her, and despite what you may think, you wouldn't deliberately try to hurt her. Stop running away from love. You found the right person. Just stay with her. For her sake, yours, and all of us," he tried to convince his friend, and he really hoped what he said would stick with him. Like he really, really hoped that Jack would finally just let go and let himself be happy.
