-Chester-
It was a miracle that Naomi didn’t use me for home transportation. She went home with her so-called “girlfriends”. While me, I enjoyed the liberty of being a free driver. I pedaled my bike all around the school, still savoring the fresh autumn air, while the leaves fell in perfect harmony.
I hummed to myself while stepping on the pedal and kicking it round and round. I have been doing this ever since I had this bike, just to take away all the stress. The cool breeze swept nearby, making me breathe all the air to my lungs. It’s kind of relaxing somehow, a sigh of pure relief, as they say.
My momentary solitude was cut short when a guy shouted nearby. I was driving to the school’s secluded area. My legs went fater as I peeked in to see what was happening.
Three big guys, who I bet were seniors of this school, were beating up a boy my age. The young boy was kind of afraid. He was all drenched and his body looked tired and spent after all the injuries that have been inflicted to him. His lower lip bled as another guy hit him again with his fist that was somewhat made of steel. The biggest guy kept on spitting harsh words to him. The young boy just ducked his head, and the other two seniors kicked him and it went into a cycle of beating up again.
He was weak, and I knew, just one more punch, he’d certainly lose his consciousness.
I felt the urge to save him, so I hopped off of my bike and held the guy’s arm when he was about to hit him again.
“Could you please take a look at yourself? You’re beating up a poor person.” I said, holding his arm tightly to stop him. It took me a lot of energy to do this thing.
The guy shoved my hand off and faced me with a fierce expression.
“And who the hell are you?” he said.
I made a cunning face.
“It’s not important. Just let him go.” I said firmly.
The guy punched my stomach, then gave me a hard blow on the cheek. The two others laughed at me, then came nearer to beat me up. I received a couple of punches, then strived back as I kicked the guy’s leg and punched the faces of the other two. When one of them tried to pull me back, I kicked his forehead.
I stumbled in front of the beaten guy.
“Let’s go. We have to get away from here.” I said, speaking as fast as possible.
“Are you crazy? They’ll kill you if they have to. Just leave me here. Go!”
I tried to make my voice firm, though I know I can’t make it.
“And you’re willing to die in vain? Holy cow, you’re crazier than I am. I don’t know you personally, but I know I have to take you away from here. You have to come with me, or else, we’ll both die here.”
“At your back!!” he yelled.
I saw the upcoming kick. I was lucky to kick him first. I dragged the young boy with me and struggled so we can both ride on the bike. Those guys ran after us, so I sped the bike higher than they could imagine.
“Hold on tight.” I said, tightening my grip and with one swift, strong step on the pedal, the bike leapt high. He held on to my shirt and felt his hands shaking in fear.
I smiled to myself as I suddenly saw that we were flying a few feet above the ground.
