-Chester-
There was a weird moving on my bed. Someone was crawling under the sheets, and I wasn’t comfortable with it. I shifted from one position to another, and scratched my head every now and then. That person snaked up on me, and tickled my back with so much gentleness. I groaned in disturbance.
I knew the invasion wasn’t over. My back was being tickled again, this time, the tingling sensation was much stronger… irresistible. I pushed the person off of me, and made a position that would surely rift me back to sleep.
And for this time, the person knocked over me, shortening my patience. I thought it was just Andrew playing a prank on me.
But when I opened my eyes, I saw Hera flashing a wide grin on me. I jumped off the bed, for our faces were just almost two inches apart.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” I yelled. I pulled the blankets and coated it around my body, like I was trying to stop her to rape me. She burst out into a heavy laughter.
This girl was absolutely driving me nuts.
“Let’s go on a barbecue grill by the beach. Uncle will be preparing the food, and everyone else will be there. Are you going?” she said.
I rolled my eyes. She woke me up just to tell me that thing.
“I’m going.” I sleepily said and climbed up in bed.
Just as I was about to lie down, she opened the curtains, enabling the sunlight to come in and strike directly into my eyes. I tried to cover my face, but still I was reached by the light.
“Now, are you sleeping with the sun?” she teasingly said.
I guess I had no choice.
There were three bicycles parked in the garage. I lay my eyes on them as I ran my hand on the first bicycle. One bike didn’t have a backseat, and Hera suddenly claimed the ownership for that bike.
“Why? Don’t you want anyone to ride on your bike? It’s a good feeling.” I asked.
“Yeah. People are kinda heavy. And my legs are slim.” she blurted out.
I pouted my mouth with what she said. It turned into a smile eventually.
Samantha and Naomi came with loads of snacks on their hands. Now I certainly believed what Hera said, but still, I couldn’t forgive her for the “snaking up” incident.
“Hey Chester, do you mind taking me for a ride? Everyone’s at the beach, you know.” Sam said.
“Yeah. Sure.” I smiled and prepared the bike.
As I started driving the bike a few meters apart from the house, Sam started screaming loudly. I sped the bike faster and she laughed in between screams.
“Can you please slow down?”
I laughed and drove faster. Despite her loud screams, her voice just faded into the air. She kept on slapping my back. We were lucky enough to get to the beach safely.
“You almost killed me.” Sam said.
“Well at least, I still brought you alive.”
Andrew waved at me with his bright smile. As I waved back, Sam took my hand and led me to where the grill was. Darwin was putting the beef cuts in the grill, and expertly did the whole cooking.
“Where’s Naomi?” Reese asked.
I shrugged.
“I don’t know. She was following us a while ago, together with Hera.” I said.
“Hey!!!!” Naomi yelled as she came closer and pulled her bike to a stop. She hopped off and slung her arm around me.
“Are you looking for me?” she said.
“No.” Andrew jokingly responded.
Naomi pouted her lips, while I painstakingly held my sketch pad.
The white clouds and the calm sea boosted me with enough inspiration to draw. I ran the pencil through the paper, letting the lead flow freely to where it’s supposed to be. I stopped for a minute, and then my mind flitted into somewhere else. That passionate kiss lingered in my memory for almost a day. I’ve done all methods to delete it out of my mind but I guess the pain had just begun.
Below the sketch, which was a horizon, the sea and the sky meeting at a certain point, I wrote:
Sky, sky, the very clear sky
I’ll be free as I fly
Forget all the worries inside
Clear out all the hurt in my heart
And when it began to darken
I’ll be ready to go out
Of an area this barren
“Nice sketch.” Andrew praised behind my back.
I turned to see him examining my work keenly. He sat beside me and took my sketch pad from me.
“You have a sense of balance in your work. I like the way you draw the sea.” He said.
I smiled.
“Thanks.”
“Do you mind if you make a sketch of me someday?”
“Sure. Why not?”
He offered me the plate with lots of barbecue. We both had a smooth and nice conversation while eating. The next thing I knew, I got butterflies in my stomach.
