-Naomi-

            “Are you serious?”

Chester’s face was creased with worry when he asked me that. Even I myself was unsure of what I was about to do. My indecisiveness took over me again. I held the white pack tightly in my hand, fearing that its power would put us in danger.

“Yeah. It’s one way for him to see that he’s been neglecting me. I’m sure I’ll be fine with this.” I said with assurance laced in my voice.

He snatched the pack from my hand and examined it. He locked the door of his room and looked at me.

“What’s this thing for, by the way?” he asked again.

            “My meds for hyperacidity.”

He shrugged and threw his eyes on the tablets. “You might kill yourself.”

I smiled. I loved it when he’s too concerned. “No, I won’t. I’m strong enough to endure this.” I said proudly.

He chuckled. “You’re crazy.” And then he threw the white pack to me.

“I know.” I sat on the edge of his bed and then eventually lay down. His eyes bore on me, which made hi freeze and scrutinize me from head to toe. My red dress suited the bright color of his sheets. I felt my heart race in unusual beats. His face flushed red, and he quickly looked away from me.

            “What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Nothing. Can’t you get up from my bed? You have to go home.”

“Nope. I like it here. I don’t want to see his face. Can I stay here until midnight?”

He rolled his eyes. “Until nine only. This is not your house.”

            I laughed. “Okay, you win.”

He walked out of the room, and slammed the door dad shut. I smirked, thinking that he accidentally recalled that one night we passionately shared.

An excruciating pain pierced through my stomach the next day. I forced myself to get up from my bed and headed straightly to my bathroom. I vomited my unwanted body fluids. Luckily, I felt better after several repeats.

I heard hurrying footsteps approach my room. The door swung open. From the mirror, I could see the worried look of Noah and Hera at me. I ducked my head on the lavatory and kept vomiting.

            “Naomi!” Hera exclaimed.

They walked to where I was and leaned in to see if I’m okay. Noah rubbed his hand along my back to ease me down.

            “Are you alright?” he asked.

I looked up to the mirror and wiped my mouth with the back of my hand. It turned the faucet on and let the water wash out the mess.

“I’m fine.” I answered and walked away from them. I lay down on my bed and turned my back to them.

“Maybe you shouldn’t go to school today. You’re sick.” he suggested.

“I said I’m fine. Can’t you hear me?” I stressed. “Now you better leave my room before I kick you out.” I added, but I was talking to Noah.

Without looking at them, I knew he left my room without saying a single word. When I heard the door close, I turned around and put up an evil grin. I made my brother care for me, without knowing that I was just pretending to be sick.

“What the hell are you thinking, sis? You’re not yet ready to become a mother, are you?” Hera said, raising her left eyebrow in curiosity and sarcasm.

“I’m not pregnant, sis. I just took meds for stomachache a few hours ago. And it’s good.” I said proudly.

“Morning sickness. Tch. You suck at it, girl.”

I stuck out my tongue at her. “I’m the best actress.” I grinned.

She just let out a short laugh and made her way out of the room she was about to reach for the doorknob when I called her out.

“Come here for a while, sis.” I said. I opened the drawers to look for the frog test machine. She sat on the edge of my bed as I closed the drawer.

            “What’s that?”

“This is used for pregnant women. You mentioned yesterday that you have a friend who might be pregnant, right? Can you do me a favor?” I said, showing her what I got.

She looked at reluctantly. She was silent for a minute, and then looked at me with unsure eyes.

“What do you want me to do again?”

“Try this on her. If it’s positive, give it to me.”

She rolled her eyes. “You’re so stupid. You’re pretending to be pregnant to make Noah accept Chester? God, he’s not even your boyfriend.”

            “But I love him.”

            “You love him?”

I realized that what I said was spontaneous. I do love Chester, but as a friend. Or maybe more than that...

            “Who?” I countered.

“Oh my god, you love Chester more than just a best friend. You just said it a while ago.” Then she turned out into a heavy burst of laughter.

“Whatever. Just do what I want you to do.” I said, almost stammering at my own statements. My sister jumped into a conclusion, in which I was very confused about. I couldn’t take back what I said, but I really love him.

After I prepared myself for school, I went down to join them for breakfast. They were both silent when I sat down on my usual seat. I took a couple of slices of bread and a large piece of omelet. Hera kept on eating while my brother looked at me warily.

            “Are you alright?” he asked.

“Yeah.” I nodded without looking at him. “Don’t worry about me. I just ate something bad.” I added.

“Okay. You said it. Take care of yourself when you go to school.”

“Sure.” I replied coldly and finished my breakfast. He stood up, telling me that he was done eating, and I stood up as well too. I went to him and ran my hand along his coat. “You take care of yourself, too. You know how much I love you.” I said with a hint of sarcasm. I used my joyful tone to hide what I really feel.

I saw his face light up like crazy. This man was falling under my silly joke.

“I have to go. Bye.” he said and walked away from me. I waved my hand though he didn’t see me, and when he was out of my sight, I laughed so hard that Hera raised her eyebrow.

“You’re still sane, right? You sound so crazy.” she remarked.

“Yeah, fortunately.” I beamed at her and left her alone.
