-Reese-

I sat still and watched as Chester swung the door open. It took him a lot of force and energy since it was very huge. He froze when he saw me sitting on the couch in the living room. He must have expected that I was sleeping in my room.

“Hi,” I said, my voice radiating a lot of vigor and vibrancy.

“H-Hello.” he reluctantly said, waving his hand. He started to take the steps to the couch and sat beside me.

“I heard you called me in.” he said, obviously not knowing what to say. After all those stupid craps came out, I felt the need to know what was deep inside of him. I’ve known about Andrew, and he proved to me that he loved me. Now, seeing Chester here, made my heart soften with sympathy. How he suffered under the eyes and hands of people was enough to make me say that it was unbearable.

“Yeah. We have a lot of things to talk about.”

“I know.”

“Tell me about it, Chester. Everything.” I calmly demanded.

He let out a big sigh before speaking. “I know this one sucks, but I have to tell you. I shouldn’t have fallen in love with Andrew, and yet I still did. Ever since I saved him that afternoon, I felt a strong attachment to him. It later developed into forbidden love.”

“He told me that.” I said.

“I never admitted it at first, knowing that it was just a friendly concern. After some time, I realized it and thought of ways to stop it. But instead, my feelings for him got stronger. I know he won’t love me back. He loves you, Reese. Sincerely.”

I was speechless at first. I wasn’t prepared for this. Chester couldn’t look at my eyes even for a second. He was guilty, but I found him brave for telling this to me. I owe him that much.

“I remained on the thin line between love and friendship. I acted as a friend, while my insides are being torn up.”

I hugged him. Hearing this story further would break my heart. I knew he told me everything, and I believed in him.

“I understand you, Chester. Every one of your friends is here for you. Together we can move on from this.” I said wholeheartedly, and even if I couldn’t see it, I could feel his tears trickling down his cheeks.

“Yeah. Thank you for being a friend.”

As I broke free from our hug, I prepared myself to tell him how I feel.

“I admit I hated you at first, and I thought Andrew was gay. I would’ve broken up with him, but when he proved to me how much he loves me, I didn’t have any doubts. Thank you.”

He smiled, and then asked me a question.

“Where did my new bicycle come from?”

“It’s from me.”

His smile turned into a huge, satisfied grin.

That night, I called up Sam. It took me four rings before she answered the phone.

“Reese?”

“Sam, I want you to investigate with something.”

“About what?”

“About Chester’s scandal.  I know there’s an untold story about it. And also you have to answer the questions running in your mind.”

“Sure. When are you going to see the results?”

“As soon as possible.”

When I ended the call, I smiled to myself. The mastermind of this shameful crime would be revealed.

Andrew’s heartwarming embrace wrapped my body while we were standing at the balcony that morning. The weather was good and it made the atmosphere more romantic.

“Do you want to go out today?” he asked in his sweetest voice. His head was on my shoulder while his arms were on my waist.

“No. I’m waiting for something now.” I said, and enjoying the warm touch that his body offered.

Okay. Whatever you say.”

We looked at the view outside, and whispered words of love for each other. After a while, Sam came to the balcony to give me the results. We broke free from our touch.

“Here, I found out who the goddamn stalker is.” she said.

I accepted the envelope that she handed me.

“What is that?” Andrew asked, clueless.

“Chester’s stalker.” I answered and opened the envelope. Upon seeing his face, I gritted my teeth in anger. He was someone I really knew.
