-Naomi-

Liam called me up at seven-thirty, and said that he was standing outside my house. I looked out the window from my room.

“Okay, I’m coming.” I said and hung up. I fixed my sandal and took one last glance on the mirror. I was beautiful enough for him. Perfect.

I took the steps downstairs and opened the door. I saw him leaning on the hood of his red car. He smiled at me.

“Hi. You look so good tonight.” he said. God, that made my day.

“Thanks. So you are. Let’s go?” I said.

We got inside the car and proceeded to the concert.  My favorite band, All Time Low was performing tonight, and as Liam gave me the ticket, I couldn’t help but feel excited. We were at the front, clearly seeing Alex Gaskarthtaking the whole stadium by storm.

I saw Liam speaking to me, but I couldn’t hear him because of the loud screams of all those girls and the melody of rock music.

“What?” I asked, maximizing my voice so that he could hear me despite the noise.

“I said do you love the concert?” he asked.

I grinned. “Yeah. I love it. Thanks for bringing me here.”

“My pleasure.” he said and fixed his eyes on the band, and minutes later, we were singing along with their songs. I was totally enjoying the night with him, and after the concert ended, we ate in a restaurant not so far from the stadium.

“Again, thanks Liam. I enjoyed this night. It got me out of boredom.” I said, as we ate both our foods.

“Don’t mention it. We haven’t seen each other for so long. And you are one of my closest friends. We shared so many memories back then, right?”

“Right.” I agreed. I felt my phone vibrate consecutively. I rummaged inside my bag to get it. It was a missed call again, and it came from Chester. He called me several times. Twenty-nine missed calls actually. I groaned in disgust. How many times did he have to call and attempt to ruin my moment? I dropped my phone back inside my bag and rolled my eyes. I didn’t even give a damn to call him back.

“Hey, is there something wrong?” he asked.

“No, nothing.” I said, hiding my impatience. I continued one eating and shrugged off Chester in my mind. He ruined my moment, and I’ll make him pay for it in school. Liam dropped me off at our house.

“Good night.” he said.

“Good night. See you at school.” I answered and gave him a smile. As I went into my room and prepared for bed, I was totally convinced how my feelings for him got stronger.

Monday came. I saw Chester making his way to the classroom. His face was creased with worry. I ran up to him and confronted him.

“Why did you call me several times last Saturday? Are you trying to ruin the night?” I said, my voice was painted with anger.

He sighed. “I was just worried about you. You know your mom doesn’t want you to go out during weekend nights, right?”

“My god, Chester. I’m eighteen now. I’m not a little girl anymore. So the next time you do that to me, you better forget that we met. You’re worrying at the so wrong time.” I said and turned my back on him.

“What? All because of that Liam guy? You know that I don’t trust him enough, so I’m worrying about you.”

“Shut up. I don’t care about what you say. I love him, and I’ll make him mine. Get lost.” I answered and left him alone. I wondered why he was suddenly so controlling and distrustful these days. I haven’t seen that attitudes of his, but it was starting to get out of him since I dated Liam. While in class, he didn’t look at me, nor even talked to me like we used to. He was dead serious with his angry attitude, and even when break time came, he went out with my other classmates instead of me.

It was time to go home that afternoon, when I spotted Chester and Liam in their own vehicles. Liam waved to me. I went to him.

“You’re going home? You can have a free ride.” he offered.

“No, I’m going with my best friend. Thanks by the way.” I rejected politely.

“I’m going home, Liam. Take care of her.” Chester said sarcastically and sat on his bike, preparing to take off. I intentionally refused Liam’s offer so I could talk to him personally, and now he’s leaving me without saying why.

He started to kick the pedals and sped off of the parking lot. I ran after him and called him out. He never even listened and kept on driving smoothly. I took my left stiletto out and threw it to his back. He stopped when it landed, and he groaned in pain.

“Stop for a while, please? We have to talk.” I said. He just looked at me and picked it up. He put it in the basket of his bike and drove away.

“What the hell. Wait!” I yelled and ran to where he was. He drove fast enough and what surprised me was Liam, driving his car and commanded me to get in.

Instead of chasing Chester, he brought me to a department store, and bought me a new pair of shoes. It was quite expensive, and its heels were as tall as what I usually wear.

“Does Chester get angry that seriously? I’ve never seen him so upset.” Liam said, while trying to fit the shoe on my foot. It fit, and he still knelt on the floor. I felt like a princess, sitting in front of him while he looked at me with those deep-set chocolate brown eyes. I loved him even more.

“Yeah. I truly know when he’s angry or when he’s just fooling around. Now, I’m sure I hurt him. I told him to get lost when we had an argument before classes started.”

“You apologize to him, or give him some peace offering. As far as I know, he’s a soft-hearted person.” he consoled.

“I’ll try. He’s still hot as of the moment. I don’t want to piss him more.”

“I’ve already paid for this one. Get up and try walking.” he said, changing the topic.

I smiled and stood up. While taking a few steps, I felt at ease with these shoes. I said I’m fine with this and he went to the counter to pay it. He dropped me home, and he kissed my cheek before I got inside the house.

 “What’s that for?” I asked.

“Just a comforting kiss. Everything would be fine tomorrow. Trust me.” he answered.

I nodded and he sped off down the road. I smiled to myself, thinking how my day was shattered, and got completed because of him.
