For the second time, the only sound that could be heard was the crackle of the fire. Thomas cleared his throat. "Nice to meet you Madeline, my name is Thomas." Madeline stared at him and a small smile appeared on her lips.

"I know." She said simply.

Thomas raised his eyebrows and Gally scoffed in anger. "See. Still think I'm overreacting? This Madeline knows Thomas! I know there is something sketchy going on! It's all been messed up since Thomas arrived." he threw his hands up and looked at the other Gladers.

"Oh shut up Gally. What do you know?" Madeline was a little tired of the situation and she highly regretted getting involved with these boys. Gally was hushed when Madeline spoke his name.

"How do you know their bloody names? And how have you been here for 2 years?" Newt stepped forward. Madeline sighed, a little annoyed by everything that was going on but she faced them.

"I know all of your names. Each and  every one of you. And really I just need to tell you my whole story and you guys will trust me. How about that?" She crossed her arms and looked around to see the boys nodding at each other and at her.

"That would help a lot." Newt unfolded his arms, walking close to her. He sat on the ground right in front of her and motioned the other boys to do the same. Soon, all of the Gladers were sitting in a circle around her, curious for her story. Madeline sat also and patted her legs which were criss crossed.

"Well, it all begins almost 5 years ago. I was placed here, in the Glade where we are sitting at that time. I was here before any of you were." An eruption of questioning voices filled the night.

"All right! Let the girl speak!" Thomas called out and the crowd settled down as soon as they had erupted. Madeline cleared her throat.

"I was put here with a set of parents and a boy with a set parents." She was immediately interrupted.

"You know your parents?" A random boy called out.

"They weren't my real parents. I don't know who my parents are or if they are even alive. My memory was wiped just the same as you boys. I remember nothing before the Maze. Sometimes I get visions of things but I have no memories. Me, my set of guardians and the boy, Peter, and his set of guardians lived here in the Maze for 3 years. Living, Working, and even playing. We lived life to the fullest here even though we knew something was wrong and this wasn't our real life." She paused to look around at the faces of pure awe around her before she continued.

"I'm honestly too tired to go through every detail of my back story. But after 3 years, one night when my entire group was exploring through the maze, the walls closed early and we were trapped for the night." "Grievers..." Thomas whispered staring at Madeline intently. He hadn't taken his eyes off her since they first saw each other. Madeline had no idea what that meant. She nodded. "We had to fight them... it didn't work out. Everyone in my group died, including that boy... Peter." Her voice cracked at his name. All of the boys whispered to each other softly and exchanged sad looks. "This is all that's left of my best friend."

Madeline held up her crystal necklace that used to belong to Peter himself. Everyone stared at it in awe as it sparkled against the light of the bonfire.

"I'm... sorry." Thomas murmured sadly. "You were left all alone?" He asked curiously and Madeline looked at the ground.

"Yes. Not very long though. You see, when I found my group's bodies there was a piece of paper that was put there after they all died I believe. it had directions to a place in the maze, a secret base inside one of the walls. I live there."

"You live in the maze?" Minho immediately responded. Madeline raised her eyebrows. "Yes. in fact I do. I coexist with the Grievers." Minho scoffed. "How have you not died yet?" Madeline shifted slightly.

"First off, that's rude. Second of all, I am a fighter. I know how to fight those metallic monsters if I have too. Third, the Grievers could never get into my secret little hiding place. Trust me, I'm still alive the last time I checked."

Madeline raised her hands as if to show that she was not a zombie. She was expecting the boys to talk to each other as they have been this entire time, but no one spoke.

"...You've fought a Griever?" Minho asked curiously. A proud smirk appeared on Madeline's face.

"I've fought several. Also, I've been stung three times." Gasps and chattering was heard. Madeline was actually a little tired of telling her story by now.

"What are you, bloody invincible?"

"You should be dead. Like seriously dead." Minho crossed his arms and stared at Madeline in confusion.

"Well, yes I should be." Madeline smiled. "But I have the cure." Everyone stared in awe.

"A cure?! Where the bloody hell has that been the past 2 years! We've lost boys because of Griever stings! Where did you get it?!" Newt yelled in anger.

"Calm down. I have a Box also in my hideout, they send me supplies once a month also, but without the Greenie each month. They send me  2 syringes of the cure a month. They probably send it to me because I run around the maze every day of my life. There was an obvious chance of me getting stung." Madeline was still smiling.

"So you've been through the Changing three times?" Gally shifted and crossed his arms. Madeline's eyes grew dark.

 "Yes." She replied simply.

"What did you see?"

Madeline's eyes caught Thomas' but she quickly looked away.

"Nothing that would help you get out of here. All I know is Wicked are the people that have us here. Which you guys have learned already thanks to Thomas." Madeline waved a finger at him. Gally scoffed and looked away. Madeline ignored his rude gesture and cleared her throat.

"One last part of my story. I was only alone in the Maze for a few days. Then you guys started showing up. And yes, I have watched you guys since day one. Don't start asking questions just let me finish. How you guys never caught me I'll never know. I've been here all this time.Learning your names, your culture and how you all live here. I could name every single one of you and your jobs here in the Glade. I know all your slang words, and I watch the Runners run through the maze sometimes. I know it may sound creepy, but it's really not. I am an extremely curious person and all I did was study the people that live in my old home."

Madeline finished her story and sat back to see how they would all react.

"How come you're just now introducing yourself?" Newt seemed to believe all Madeline had said.

"Well, at first, I wasn't sure if you boys were an enemy. After a while I realized you all were just like me. After that, I'm not sure why I didn't just come to you guys. Fear maybe."

"Fear of what?" Thomas asked suddenly. Madeline thought about her response for a moment. "...Fear of becoming attached to anyone else." Thomas stared at her silently.

"I lost every single person I loved two years ago. I really don't want that to happen again." Madeline replied softly.

"Well now you are here. And I gotta say, I actually believe you. " Minho stood up and looked at her. "Welcome back to the Glade."
