"We're home," Barry yelled as they walked through the door.
Gen followed behind and shut the door behind herself. She looked around and a sense of warmth and comfort wrapped around her heart.
It had felt like forever since she's been in here. She tended to shoot down dinner invitations and social gatherings.
Even though she knew the West Family from rooming with Iris in college, she had only been here a handful of times.
She walked into the living room and watched him put her bag on the ground. She heard chatter from the kitchen and in seconds Iris was shuffling out and "gently" hugging her.
She pulled away and looked at Gen with the biggest smile she could muster.
"I'm glad you're alright. Honestly I was afraid you were going to beat up Barry if he didn't bring you home." She exclaimed.
Gen shrugged and smiled, "So you agree with Delilah that this is a good idea?"
Barry had stepped next to Gen and loosely wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Of course. Why wouldn't it be?" He questioned.
She shrugged again, "I just don't want be a burden. I can take care..."
She trailed off and glanced between Barry and Iris who were giving her a stern look.
"What?" She questioned.
"I think what they're trying to say is that you're always more than welcome here Gen." Joe chuckled and walked out of the kitchen, plates in hand.
Gen smiled softly at that. She knew she was welcomed, but she was just afraid of the consequences of her stay.
She looked between Barry and Iris once more and huffed in defeat. "Alright alright. Just stop glaring before one of you burns a hole in my forehead."
That made them laugh and Gen relaxed just a bit.
Barry went off to help Joe set the dining table, while Iris pulled Gen away to help her get settled in the spare room upstairs.
Gen went to grab her duffle bag off the floor, but Iris beat her to it. She groaned and looked at Iris, "I am more than capable of taking my own bag Iris."
She smiled and put the strap on her shoulder, "Nope. You're injured."
She placed her good hand on her hip and narrowed her eyes, "You are infuriating."
Iris was already halfway up the steps with Gen's bag, a smirk present. "I love you too."
She heard chuckles from behind her and rolled her eyes. She followed after Iris and soon enough Joe and Barry were alone downstairs.
Joe had put down a plate and glanced at Barry, who was placing cups by each plate. His face was scrunched up in thought.
"You okay Barry?"
