Too engrossed in her own secret battles, Gen was oblivious to everyone's troubles.

At the moment Barry was dealing with his own demons. More and more meta-humans were popping up. And with more meta-humans came the growing fear of his friends and family getting hurt.

Sure she noticed he's been a little withdrawn with her and Iris lately, but she only thought it was all those crazy cases he told her about from work that was taking a toll on him.

It had only been a month since Barry's woken up from his coma and he felt like Gen hasn't been completely open with him like she was before the accident. She's different now.

She's always trying to convince people she's fine, when she clearly isn't. And it was beginning to concern Barry.

"Maybe something happened during those 9 months? But if something happened Iris would of told me... Right?" Barry thought.

He was slouched in his chair in the lab at CCPD. His arms were crossed and he was absent mindly staring at the wall.

Sure Gen had a right to have secrets, if anyone should understand that it's Barry, but there was just something off.

He sighed and sunk further into his chair. He sat like that for about 15 minutes before footsteps pulled him out of his thoughts.

"Barry I need those results for...Barry. Hey Barry." Joe snapped his fingers, getting his full attention.

"Hmm? Yeah Joe I have them," he picked up some papers from his deak and handed them to him, "The prints from both crime scenes match."

Joe took the papers and slipped them in a folder. He looked back down at Barry in a questioning way.

"You seem out of it lately. More than usual." Joe said.

Barry only shrugged and spun his chair so he was facing his computer.

Joe eyed Barry in concern before speaking, "Is this about keeping your secret from Iris and Gen? You know you can't say anything to them."

"Yeah I know, but it's not about that. Gen just...she seems very distant ever since I woke up from my coma."

Joe nodded in understanding. "Well, she really didn't handle the accident very well, and that's coming from the man that basically lived in that hospital before you were moved to Star Labs. She barely got sleep the first few months."

Barry looked up at him in disbelief. "A few months?" He ran a hand through his hair.

"Yep," Joe nodded again and sat on the edge of Barry's desk. "She refused to leave the hospital. I mean, granted Iris and I wouldn't leave either, but I think you getting hurt dug up some buried feelings."

Barry opened his mouth, but he wasn't sure what to say. He couldn't believe Gen was that distraught over him.

Joe patted his shoulder, "Don't beat yourself up about this alright? And don't go asking Gen crazy questions."

Barry slumped in his chair and watched Joe leave the lab and head back downstairs.

"Maybe I can talk to Caitlin about Gen?" He thought.

And that's what he did. After work he headed to Star Labs. On his way he thought back to what Joe told him.

He only shrugged to himself and continued to speed through the streets of Central City.

Little did Barry know the secrets and lies Gen buried all those months, even years, were better off left 6 feet under.
