Iris took a sip of her coffee and stared back at Barry, who of course was squirming under her gaze.
"What?" He asked nervously.
She shook her head, "You've been a little off lately."
Barry drank his coffee and placed the cup down, "What do you mean?"
"Oh please, ever since Gen left town you've been distant and sad," a smirk tugged at her lips, "you do realize she's coming back right? No need to get your little heart all in a craze."
Barry rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair "Iris..." he said in a warning tone.
"No Barry," Iris sighed, "I've seen you head over heels for this girl for the past few years and you haven't said a word to her about it. Ever stop to think she might feel the same way?"
Barry shook her head, "She doesn't. Trust me. And I'm not "head over heels" for her Iris. I never was. She's just a really good friend."
"Mhmm," she took a quick sip of her coffee, "Whatever you say."
Barry sent her a pointed look, knowing her too well, "Iris..."
"What?" She placed her cup down and lened foward on the table.
"I know you Iris. Well enough to know when you're planning something. I told you-"
"That you don't like Gen, blah blah blah. Barry," Iris reached over and took his hand, "you can tell me you don't love Gen a million times, but I can see it in your eyes."
Barry lowered his gaze from Iris, "I don't-"
"You love her Barry Allen. Now all you have to do is tell her."
Looking back up at Iris, a small smile spread across Barry's lips. "I appreciate you looking out for me, but I'm serious. I don't love Gen. So please don't go doing anything. Okay?"
Iris pursed her lips, thinking for a moment. A sigh escaped her lips and she nodded. "Okay, but are you sure you-"
"Iris."
"Okay okay."
Despite Barry's words, his heart told a completely different story.
It might sound cheesy, but ever since he's met Gen he has been in complete love with her.
He finds his heart racing so fast he can barely catch his breath. His thoughts are cloudy and this stupid grin can't be wiped from his face.
