Gen thought she's seen and felt everything. Nothing could prepare her for the amount of heartbreak she was feeling right about now. She sat in Big Belly Burger, sipping on a vanilla shake. An empty box that once held fries and a half eaten burger sat in front of her.
The small bell jingled above the entrance when the door opened. She looked up and saw none other than Caitlin Snow. Gen smiled gently and stood up. "Hey Cait."
In seconds the two were in a tight embrace, Caitlin beaming. She pulled away slightly, "You don't understand how happy I am your back. That business trip took forever." Before Gen could get a word in Caitlin pulled her back in a warm embrace.
After a few more secinds Gen pulled away and they both took a seat at the table. "So how's the gang doing? I bet they are all dying to see me."
Caitlin chuckled lightly and leaned her chin on her hand, studying Gen. Gen looked back, sipping on her shake. She gulped the sip she took and licked her lips, "What?"
"You seem different. Everything okay with you?" Caitlin leaned back in her seat and crossed her arms. Gen shrugged and mimicked her movements, "I'm fine."
"Gen."
"Cait."
"You're lying to me."
Gen rolled her eyes, "No I'm not."
Caitlin's gaze soften and a soft sigh left her lips, "You know you can tell me anything right."
"Oh trust me, I wish I could tell you everything," Gen thought to herself. She simply nodded and smiled, "I know Cait, but I'm telling you everything is peachy keen with me."
Suddenly Caitlin's phone buzzed and she quickly pulled out of her pocket. "Oh it's Barry, hold on." She got upp and walked away from the table, hushing into the phone.
Just hearing Barry's name made her feel sick to her stomach. It's been about two weeks and he refuses to even look at her. She's tried. Though, considering Caitlin is actually talking to Gen at the moment, he didn't tell anyone what she told him.
She thought about his little secret too. Barry Allen is The Flash. To be honest, Gen laugjed at the thougjt of skinny clumsy Barry Allen being the fastest man alive. At least he was helping people, not killing them like she was.
Caitlin sighed and walked back to the table. "Sorry cuz I'm needed at work. I promise we'll make some time to really get some quality time together."
Gen forced a chuckle and stood up, engulfing her cousin in a hug. "Yeah yeah, don't get all mushy on me. Go, I'm sure your brilliant mind is needed."
With that, Caitlin was out the door, leaving a depressed Gen behind. She gathered her stuff and headed the opposite direction, towards the small apartment she was able to rent out for the moment.

Dark clouds crossed the sky, causing Gen to groan. She pulled her jacket around her tighter and kept walking. She watched kids run down the street, laughing. She saw an older couple whispering and smiling to one another. That made her smile. That's the kind of life she's always wanted.
But Gen has never had the best luck.
As she approached her red bricked building, a shot rang through the neighborhood and Gen found herself falling to the ground.
