My room glittered in the late morning light and I squeezed open my eyes, unable to bear its intensity. The curtain was drawn apart and the river shimmered gloriously.Enjoying the spectacular sight,I sat on my bed, lazier than ever. After killing time,I got up and began to fold the blankets.
"Heyy...what are you doing?",Kabir rushed inside, screaming in panic.
He snatched away the blankets from my hand and started to fold them, mumbling things like 'You shouldn't stress yourself','you never listen to me'..As I began to argue,he shushed me down and it was so annoying.I hate it when I'm treated like an old lady,as if I'm not fit to do things by myself.I tried to angrily stomp away from the room, but couldn't.I'm twice as big as I was before and my tummy is protruding outside my body.Everytime I make a harsh or sudden movement,I can feel the baby kick me.Its not too painful like some might think,it was actually a little ticklish at first but after a few more weeks,my stomach began to twitch and quiver every time the baby kicks and I feel like I'm on a roller coaster!
After doing all my morning routine,I went downstairs to drink some lime juice. For the past few months,I can't fight the urge to eat lemons and lime pickles. So,nani suggested I drink lemonade every morning instead of coffee or tea. There was no one in the hall or kitchen so I thought I'd make it myself.I opened the fridge and started hunting for a lemon when something caught my eye.It was huge box.I opened it and to my surprise,it was a cake....A chocolate cake! But why would anyone get a this big cake? There was something written on it in vanilla cream. As I struggled to bend down to see what it is,I heard Meghna call me.
"I really don't know!What is your problem?",she screamed,sounding vexed.
"What?I was just hunting for a lemon!"
"The lemon is in the vegetable tray.Move!I'll get it for you.",she said and walked towards me,mumbling something.
"MEGHNA!!!!!!!!!!!!",Kabir screamed.
A walloping sound followed behind. We looked at each other and Meghna rushed to towards the sound while I walked there as fast as I could.
"Is everything ok?",I asked, looking at Meghna, who was laughing like a maniac.
"Yaa...yeaa!!Everything's...cool!",Kabir said, trying to get up from the floor with a funny look on his face.
"Ok!But why is she laughing and why are you sitting here like this?"
"I...I just thought sitting here would be nice.",he replied, trying to get up but kept tripping over and over.Meghna laughed even harder,so hard that her attempt of giving him a hand ended in vain, making him fall on the ground with a huge thud.I laughed and helped him up which is when I noticed a pool of some liquid on the ground.I wasn't courageous enough to bend down and take a look at what it is with this tummy, which is twice as big as a football.
"You were thinking sitting in the pathway would be nice?",I mocked, laughing harder, realizing that he slipped and fell because of that thing which is sloped down.
He stared at me in complete fury and then screamed out for nani and eventually went hunting for her when she didn't reply. We both followed behind,as he stormed to the balcony.Nani was so busy listening to the morning news in her old radio that she hardly heard us even when Kabir had screamed at the top of lungs, not far from her room.He snatched her radio and turned it off and stood staring at her, with his hands on his hips.
"What happened?",nani asked, trying to get back her radio from him, which he held so firmly in his arms.
"Oh!You called me and I didn't hear you, right?",she said, when he did not respond.
"You can't hear, you can't see....God alone knows what you can do properly.Which is why I tell you to sit silently without making a fuss around the house",he screamed.
