"Scorpius, come on," Dad called as we walk to platform 9 3/4 in King Cross station. I speed up looking in the crowds for Albus Potter. Everyone thinks we're enemies but we're really great friends. Then there is Rosie Weasley, she's smart, great at Quidditch, but a Weasley. Father hates them. And then Rosie's friend Alice Longbottom she's interesting and it's clear Albus likes her. Her father is the Herbology Professor and her brother is a 7th year.
"Scorpius," Mom calls and I hurry up pushing my trolley.
"You know how everything works, we'll see you at Christmas break."
"Mom, I was planning on staying at Hogwarts for Christmas," I tell her, avoiding her eyes.
"Oh,"she says stiffly and gives me a quick hug. We walk though the wall and end up on Platform 9 3/4.
I look around and see people boarding the Hogwarts Express. Then I see them the whole Potter/Weasley clan.
"Scorpius make sure to stay clear from that Weasley girl," Dad says and I slowly nod. Dad hands me my broom and my owl then both of my parents give me a hug and I board the train. I make sure my wand is in my pocket then I look for a compartment.
"Scorpius," Albus says walking towards me we high-wave and look for a compartment.
"How was your summer?"
"Boring, with my parents and nothing else,"I respond as we go into a compartment with Rosie, Alice, James, and two 1st years.
"I spent it with them," Albus said and everyone waved.
"Hi I'm Lily Luna Potter," a young ginger girl says.
"You should be going Lily and Hugo," Rosie say.
"Wow Rosie, you think I can't  handle first years," I reply.
"Did he just call Rosie? And you didn't kill him? Who is this guy?" The young red haired guy asks, confused.
I start to tell them who I am ,"I'm Sco-"
"Really Hugo leave," Rosie commands. "Rosie, you're overreacting," I say.
"No I'm not, that's Hugo, my brother," Rosie says.
"I think this compartment is crowded I'm going to go find Liam," James says and gets up and leaves.
"I would too but you guys are kinda my only friends," Alice says sheepishly and Albus nods.
"I'm not my father," I whisper as Rose sits back down.
"Malfoy. Scorpius Malfoy," I say and Lily's eyes widen.
"Y-You-"Lily starts.
"He's not his father," Albus says and I nod.
"You're her boyfriend," Hugo says and Rosie goes scarlet.
"No he's not," Rose fires back.
"Leave her alone, Hugo," Alice says and stands up with everyone.
I see Rosie reaching for her wand but I shoot her a glance. Lily points her wand towards me.
"Rose he's a Malfoy and a pureblood," Lily says.
"No magic on the train," Hugo reminds but Rosie already has her wand in hand.
"Expelliarmus," I say wand in hand and both their wands fly up and Alice snatches them.
"Hey," Lily says, angered.
"Please, I'm not getting a dentition before the semester even starts," Alice scoffs and places the wands in her bag. "But I don't even know any spells I'm first year, Malfoy and Rose are the dangerous ones," Lily says and Hugo nods.
"I would never hurt you," Rosie says.
"You took out the wand first, Lily," Albus pointed.
"Your cousin and my sister is dating a MALFOY!" Hugo complains.
"He's not like his father or grandfather!" Rosie says.
"No I'm not I may have their genes but I will never be a Death Eater, "I try to explain. There's total silence. I'm sneaky, a little bit of a trouble maker but I will never be what they once were and I will change the family name.
"I'm going to take Alice's advice and leave. Come on, Lily" Hugo says and Lily grabs her wand back from Alice and they go to find James.
"Rose I'm sorry," I say once they leave.
"I know you are," she says,
"But sometimes a sorry is nothing compared to what happened. My own brother is angry at me. He'll probably hate me. Why did I even become friends with you?" Rosie says and sits down and looks out at the rolling hills. I sit down feeling hatred, the same thing my dad felt so many times before. I slump down in my seat annoyed by what Rose said. Albus and Alice quietly mumble discussing about what's their plans are for this year.
"Rosie I don't think it's that big of a deal," I say.
"Oh but it is," she says angry with me  and reaches to get something from above her head and an orange tabby cat appears in her hands.
"You have a cat?" I ask and she nods not daring to  meet my eyes. I scan over the cat and grimace. Rosie pets it and looks out the window, I notice it's missing spots of hair, as Albus and Alice talk about wands, books, and Quidditch.
"I need to go find Hugo and tell him I'm sorry," Rosie announces and she gets up and gives Alice her cat.
"I'll go with you," I volunteer.
"I think you've done quite enough," she says and walks out to go find them.
"I didn't do anything wrong,"I say and roll my eyes.
"But you did," Alice said and turns her back to me.
"Rose was just angry at Hugo for, well you know what happened. But you didn't help either. So it's both of you to blame,"Albus tries to explain.
There's a knock on the compartment door and a Gryffindor prefect comes in.
"Hey Alice and guys that shouldn't be with my sister alone. You might want to change into your robes, Hogwarts is in sight," Alice's brother, I'm assuming, informs us then he leaves.
Rose comes back in her robes and grabs her cat.
"Her name is Clementine. My cat's name is Clementine," Rosie simply says and then purses her lips.
Albus and I leave the room to go change in the bathroom.
"What's Rose's problem?" I ask Albus as we wait in a line.
"Her family means the most to her. Hugo means a lot and is protective of Rose. Lily is just strong and stuff. Let he cool off," Albus says trying to explain.
"Wait, since when do you care about Rose?"
I give a small smirk and he knits his eyebrows together.
"Scorpius tell me something," Albus says but I slip into the bathroom just in time.

Once I come out I go back to the compartment.
"Malfoy, tell me, why did you do that?" Rosie asks.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" I respond.
"Malfoy I'm dead serious," Rosie says and turns to glare at me.
"You want to know why Rosie. I'll tell you, your family is important to you I know that, so I tried to please them but because of my family name they thought I was evil. Only you, Albus, and maybe Alice thought I wasn't evil and didn't judge all of Slytherin or think I'm just like my father, and I'm not," I say and Rosie smiles.
"That's what I wanted to hear," Rosie says and I crack a smile. Then we get off the train and are escorted to Hogwarts.
"I'll see you after the sorting," Rosie tells Albus and me, Rose, and Alice head in a separate direction following Alice's brother.
