My cousin, Albus, is officially a git. Last week, he got in a fight with Scorpius, his best friend, and had a girl come in during detention. And this whole week Scorpius has been ignoring me. Oh and did I mention because he "loves" the other girl so much he broke up with Alice, my best friend. You can cheat on me and my cousins will take care of it but when you cheat on my best friend you talk with me, her small family, and all my cousins, and since Albus is one of them, he's toast. I wake up earlier than usual on Tuesday all I have as Potions before dinner and Astronomy at midnight. I pull on a Gryffindor shirt, jeans, and trainers. Quietly I leave the dormitory and head to the library. I look around for Scorpius but can't find him, so I just sit at a table. I pull out a book and start reading. Soon I hear footsteps and see blonde hair but the person just keeps walking.
"What even, Scorpius?" I mutter and stand up. I pack up my stuff and head down to the Great Hall for breakfast. Since it was still a little early barely anyone was in there. I walk to Gryffindor table and sit next to Lily, James, and Alice. James has one arm around Alice as Lily gives Alice a tissue. I see Albus and Jane walk in hand-in-hand with Scorpius trailing behind.
"Some nerve he got," I say and stand up.
"Rose, sit," James says but I don't pay attention as I march to the Slytherin table.
"Albus Severus Potter, how dare you break my best friend's heart!" I shout at him.
"Me? She broke up with me!" He shouts back. "Because you are a cheating fox!" I yell and I look at Scorpius for a response but he just stares at his breakfast.
"Malfoy, are you going to do anything?" I ask since he usually has my back.
"You know what Weasley, I'm not going to do anything. Because you told me something yesterday that was false and my best friend here told me the truth, making me turn on my best friend taking a girl's advice I'm not even friends with fifty percent of the time. So why don't you just go back to liar land called Gryffindor table?" he snaps and I stare at him in disbelief.
"Fine Malfoy, if that's what you want," I say sternly and return to Gryffindor table in silence with only the sound of my trainers on the ground. Once I sit everyone starts to gossip. "Who placed that idea in his head? That is not the Scorpius that I know," Alice said and hugs me.
"Alice, I'm fine. He's a Malfoy, he can't help it," I scoff.
"Yea and you're a hot-headed Weasley. Scorpius knew right, you made the mistake. Not like you've haven't made them before,"Angus hisses from a couple seats away. I feel the blood boiling but James holds me back.
"He better hide,"I mumble.
"I have a free period before Potions,"James says and Alice smiles. They walk off together as I'm left with Lily.
"Hey Rose don't listen to Scorpius. He's a boy, he'll be friends with you tomorrow," Lily says and I look down at my breakfast.
"You know I'm not hungry," I say and walk up to the dormitory. I grab my broom and go down to the Quidditch pitch then pull out my Quaffle and throw it in the air. I fly up and start some techniques. First, I weave through the seating then fly straight up. I then find the angle the Keeper would never see it coming and throw it. It goes through the right post and I smile. I fly down to the center and see I've gathered an audience. I spot out Jane and Albus and James and Alice talking a little further down. For a few more minutes I practice then mount off my broom. I pack it up and see Alice waiting for me.
"James says with your flying skills and skills in general, he wants you to go for Keeper next year when he's captain," Alice says with a smile.
"That'll be wonderful," I say and smile as we walk back to the courtyard.
"How are you feeling Alice?" I ask and she frowns.
"Uh better. Just I never thought the Golden Group would come to this. Scorpius hasn't talked to you all of last week and the thing with Albus. It's just how Allison wants it to be," Alice says biting her lip to hold back tears. Just how Allison wants it to be...
"Alice, I have an idea but it's going to sound crazy," I say and she nods. I tell her we need to sneak into the Slytherin common room, listen into Scorpius' and Albus' conversation and check Allison's dorm.
"How? They know we are animagus?" Alice ask.
"That's why you need to distract Allison as I snoop. Even Slytherins have to like dogs," I say and she smiles. Valerie loves dogs, I think and go into the broom closet and transform. Valerie is probably leaving the library, coming this direction. Soon enough I see Valerie and she smiles.
"Hi little doggie do I need to take care of you?" she says in a baby voice. Valerie pats her thigh and leads me straight to the Slytherin dungeon. Albus and Scorpius are on the couch quietly talking. Valerie sits in a black chair on the other side. I lay down and squeeze under the couch. When you are a dog you can fit into small spaces.
"Rose is just being too much her. I can't take it. I'm just going to drift away. I just can't our friendship is on and off and it's better to stay off," Scorpius explains.
"Yea I'm related to that. She's just like her father, emotional rage of a teaspoon," Albus says and Scorpius laughs. I crawl towards the girl's dormitory, I've heard enough. I climb up the stairs to the third year girl's dorm. It's very dark and gloomy like the common room. I see a piece of parchment and I can make out my name and Scorpius'.
"Doggie," Valerie calls and I run down. "Silly doggie. You can't go up there," Valerie says. "Wait... Dog?" Scorpius says and he and Albus stands up.
"Yea do you know who's it is?" Valerie asks and Scorpius grimly nods his head.
"Thanks Scorpius," Valerie says and goes to a table. Scorpius and Albus march me out into the hall. Once the door shuts I transform back. "Rose Nymphadora Weasley, I can't believe you. You snuck into the Slytherin common room for what reason?" Albus ask.
"I had to check what Allison was doing," I say and stare at the ground.
"That's low. She's fine how can you not see people are different than their parents?" Scorpius snaps.
"Some people are different from their parents. I thought you were but I'm mistaken and Albus you are nothing near Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny," I say furious.
"Some people are their parents. Just like you. You are too emotional, you get jealous easily, you are smart we get it, don't even get me started on how bossy you are, and you will never change," Scorpius fires back and I knit my eyebrows together.
"Neither will you. Oh course you are helping You-Know-Who's daughter your family was loyal to him. Of course you would be put in Slytherin you want to know why, because you are just like your father. I'm ignorant because I did see that earlier," I hiss and storm off to Gryffindor tower. The Golden Group has split, it's over. This fight will never be fixed.
