"Scorpius, let's go," Albus bugs me during our free period.
"Why so anxious?" I ask him.
"Quidditch is fun," he says but I see a glint in his eyes.
I get up and we go to our dorm to get our brooms and my Quidditch set.
"Wait we don't have another Keeper though," Albus reminds me as we all to the Quidditch field.
"Rose can literally play any position she can be Keeper," I say and Albus laughs.
"She's going to be a Keeper," Albus says and burst out laughing. I look at him like he's crazy and see Rose and Alice are already there flying around. Alice looks like a blur while Rose is at regular speed on her Strike. I catch Rose's eyes and she flies down and Alice does the same.
"Are you ready for game, Weasley?" I ask.
"The real question is, are you ready to get beat?" She replies and Alice high-fives her.
I look over at Alice who is staring at something behind me I turn around and remember Albus is with me.
"Is that a new broom?" I Albus asks Alice as I mount onto my Windstorm.
"Yes it's the Lightning Strike new edition," she says and my eyes widen.
"Lightning Strike? Like the new model," I speak up and she nods and smirks.
"See like I said you don't need luck," Albus says and mounts into his Strike broom. "Up," we all say at once and are lifted in the air. Rose and I take out place in front of the goals and Alice throws the Quaffle in the air. And
Alice and Albus dove for it. I see Rose sitting on her broom watching the game. Then Albus steals the Quaffle and flies towards the goal post but with Alice's broom she speeds up and grabs the Quaffle right out of his hands.
"Oh come on," Albus groans and turns around to try to catch up wth her. Alice weaves left and right like invisible enemies are there. I try to mimick her movement she moves to the right and I move to the right trying to block her shot. She puts it over her head and hurls it towards the left post but I'm too late.
"10 points to Gryffindor!" A girl shouts from the bleachers. I look over and see Alice and Rose's roommates, Nim, Charlotte, and Danica. Then I look to the other side and a bunch of Slytherin guys have gathered. They aren't 3rd years and looking at their husky bodies they must be older.
"Hey Malfoy might want to pay attention," Rose shouts and giggles a little.
"You wish Weasley," I shout back just as Albus steals the ball from Alice. Alice does a sharp turn and starts to fly low. She puts a foot on her broom and starts to stand up.
"No way," I mumble as Alice stands straight up beside Albus and stiffly steals the Quaffle. "Rose now," Alice yells and Rose leaves her post as Keeper and takes the ball from Alice's hand as she sits back in her broom. Rose flys around the Goal Post and then dive bombs but pulls up.
"Give me your worst Weasley," I yell at her and she smirks. Her feet at in a jumping position on her broom. She goes just to my level and jumps off her broom like she's in a high jump competition and then throws the Quaffle to Alice. Rose's broom zooms around and catches her just as Alice throws the Quaffle into the Goal post.
"Yes, team victory!" Alice says beaming and they bump elbows.
"10 points to Gryffindor," Danica shouts and they cheer.
"Oh shut up, Gryffindor," the Slytherins yell. I shrug them off and return to our game.
We play for a couple more minutes and the total out come is 60-40 Gryffindor won.
"And that's with out Liam," Alice says once we all land.
"It's only Albus by himself he still needs Mallory and Haley. And that's without the Snitch or Bludgers," I point out.
"Scorp does have a point," Albus says and Rose snarls.
The two different groups of people come down.
"Nice job, girls totally showed them who's boss," Danica says and they all hug and I roll my eyes.
"Malfoy, Potter, nice job we all know that Slytherin is going to win in the first game," Brooks, the oldest guy says.
"You really showed Longbottom and that Mudblood who's boss, you are just resting for next time," his sidekick, Garrick adds in. What Garrick says plays over in my mind multiple times, that Mudblood. I can see a bunch of eyes watching me now. Angry boils inside me and I can't contain it. I look at Garrick one more time before I punch the guy square in the mouth. "You didn't not just call her a Mudblood," I say and jump on top of him. His lip is busted and so I punch him again in the nose. He punches back right in my eye. I feel an instant pain. But I don't feel Albus hold me back I see red hair pull me back and hold me there. I try to push past them but they come into focus. Rosie. She simply turns around to the guys. "Who are you calling Mudblood? My mom is one of the greatest witch of her time and my father is a pureblood," she says and then kickes Brooks's knee cap and turns around to me. Then Alice steps in and I've never been happier to see her. She's the peacekeeper. "I'm sure Professor Longbottom would love to hear about this you know my father the Herbology Professor," she says.
"Oh I already have," Professor Longbottom says stepping out from the bleachers.
"Brooks and Garrick report to your Head of House I'm right here," he says.
"Since Professor McGonagall was Head of House she pasted it to me and now I'd like to see Mr.Malfoy and Miss Weasley in detention helping with the garden tomorrow at 12. See you then," he says and turns.
"But I'm not in your house," I speak up.
"Do you want Miss Weasley to work alone?" He asks.
"She can't finish a job alone, of course not," I say.
"Oh I almost forgot 5 points from Slytherin for rude comment 5 points for each hit from Gryffindor and Slytherin and 5 points earned for Miss Longbottom trying to stop it. I see the new broom works," Professor says and then makes his way back to the castle.
"We each get 15 points taken away from Slytherin," Albus exclaims.
I feel the old pain to my eye and wince. "Oh right," Rosie says, "Black eye for certain."
"Time for infirmary," I say and Albus walks me up.The next day during our free period Rosie and I report to the gardening shed. She stars to look at my eye which is swollen and a terrible color.
"I got a letter this morning from my father saying how proud he was of me for punching a kid. He doesn't know why I did it though," I tell her as we walk to the Spiky Bush. Rose takes out her wand and cast a Fire-Making Spell which retracts the spikes.
"There you fighters are," Professor Longbottom says as we make our way to the front.
"I want the glass on the green house cleaned and the floors swept please don't disturb any of the plants," he explains as we give him our wands and he gives us cleaning rags.
"Let's get to work," Rose says as we walk over and start cleaning the glass.
"That guy deserved it, Rose for calling you a that," I say as she tries to get the top glass piece.
"But you didn't have to fight him," she replies with pursed lips.
"I know that and you didn't have to kick him," I fire back.
"I do agree but he give you a black eye," she says trying to look at it.
"But I gave him a busted lip and a bloody nose," I shoot back and she nods.
"You fought your own house because of something they said about me," she says and her eyes soften.Once we finish everything we are told to do, Professor Longbottom dismisses us.
"Want to go to Gryffindor common rooms?" Rose asks and I nod. She wraps a blind fold around and whispers something as we climb though a hole. She takes it off and the room is full of scarlet and velvet chairs and couches.
We sit on the chairs and play Wizard chess.
"I'm a master at this," she says, grinning.
"Trying to beat a Malfoy, I see," I reply and we play a couple times.
"I win again," Rosie says beaming.
"Nice game, Rosie," I say and we stand up.
"I'll see you in class," she says and smiles.
I turn around and start to climb though the hole before she puts a blindfold on me."Thank you for defending me, Doofus," she says and I climb though the hole.
"Anytime," I reply.
"I hope there isn't a next time," she says as I climb out the hole. I walk a little away and take off the blindfold so I still won't know where the common room is. I walk back to the Potions class where I left my books.
"Hello Mr.Malfoy you left these," Professor Cho says and hands me my books.
"Thank you," I say jumbled in thought.
"Scorpius you seem worried what about?" She asks, "Anything with school or Rose Weasley."
"Does everyone know even the teachers?" I ask and she nods.
"Professor Longbottom and Professor McGonagall are betting on it but I don't believe in betting on love," she replies.
"It's not love it's friendship she knows I don't like girls flirting with me so she got rid of her," I say.
"Ok I'll test that in my class one day, Scorpius you just gave us an extra assignment," Professor Cho says and shooed me out of her room.
"How can you test that?" I say making my way to Transfigurations.
