Chapter 95-Luke's Birthday Part II

I think the night was a success. Luke appears to be having a great time. I just need a moment for myself to get myself in order. This has been a mentally draining night. I ordered a poison appletini because it just seems to fit me right now. Just as the bartender places my drink down in front of me, I heard a familiar voice.

"A poison Appletini? What's going on in that head of yours?" says Alec, as he sits next to me at the bar. I should have known he would find me.

"Shouldn't you be with your ladies tonight?"

"Changing the subject is not answering the question."

"I think it's fitting right now. I am just trying to sort some things out in my head."

"Is it about today because it I say it was a success."

"No."

"Is it about the Blackbourne Team? Do you think hiding out will stop your mind from wondering about your troubles." he asks as I take a sip.

Sighing, I look at him briefly. "I am not avoiding them Alec. I am treating them like all my clients by being invisible to them until they need me. Besides, I tried to approach them and when I did the atmosphere changed and became thick with tension."

"And, how did you handle that?"

"I reverted to work mode and asked if everyone was having a good time and if there was anything they needed. They said they were fine and were enjoying themselves. If they needed me, they would let me know."

"Yeah, I bet they are. If you surprised me with my favorite entertainers for my birthday, I would enjoy it too. Let's see, you opened the night and performed Katy Perry's Birthday for Luke. Then you have Jimmy Fallon perform a stand up comedy show and finally finish with a Justin Timberlake concert for the whole club. Then to top it off, they all get to hang out with them for the night. Nope, not jealous at all."

"Whatever. He did not have a birthday party for his 21st last year, so this had to be big. Besides, I know you enjoyed your Amine theme party. I still have the pictures to prove it." I say with a smirk.

"I can neither confirm or deny that statement."

Rolling my eyes at him, I pat his upper arm "Whatever. Your secret is safe with me."

After he orders a beer Alec started quizzing me.

"Would Hawke showing up tonight have anything to do with your drink? I saw him approach you while you were looking at the guys. What did he want?"

"You always see everything."

"Flattery will get you nowhere with me." he says, as the bartender sets down his beer. Alec slides him $10 and says to keep the change. Then he turns and fixes that hard glare on me "Spill it."

"He said I did not have to stare and only wish to dance. He would be more than happy to dance with me. When I turned around, I told him 'you wish' and he laughed. He said he was excited about working with he, and he was glad I took him up on his offer to work with him for covering the last minute change in entertainment."

"Why would you agree to work with Hawke in exchange for the entertainment tonight?"

"After I left Owen's yesterday, I called the manager to tell him I could not perform for the party I was planning due personal reasons. He told he had already told the owner and I would need to call him to see what he can do for entertainment. When he gave me the owner's name and number, I was shocked. I called Hawke and told him I could not perform as I had agreed to with the manager. He told me he normally does not allow people to cancel on him, especially on a night when he had previous plans and canceled them for a private event. He told me I owed him one. I did not know until tonight what that favor was until he walked up to me at the bar earlier and told me." "He told me he could not just cancel the show and I could not back out. He said I could dance for him and sing some songs I already knew with his band. What I had planned would not have worked so I needed to fill the spot."
