*EDITING PORCESS UNDERWAY*

Chapter 3

Now let’s just see what these wings can do when I want to leave from a second story porch, I thought as I stepped back as far as I could across from my bedroom porch. “One...two…three!” I counted and then pushed off the wall and started running toward the open glass porch doors.

I had cut slits in my old t-shirt so when I whooshed out my wings I wouldn’t fall flat on my face on the ground below.

Now! I thought as I jumped out off the porch and whooshed out my wings so they could grab some air and hoist me high. At first I fell about two feet then I soared upward. As I started flapping my wings I was able to look back and find that my feathers were as white as angels’. Then the thought hit me: I was actually flying!

“Oh my God! I’m flying!” I shouted as I started doing loop-de-loops.

Then I soared so high that I was able to see the lake that was an hour away. It looked so beautiful from up here. It was surrounded by trees so it really looked like someone had planted grass and then dug a big whole right in the middle of it.

Let’s see how long it would take to get there. I thought as I started to fly towards the lake as fast as I could. It only took me five minutes to get from my house to the lake if I flew so that was nice. Then once I was there I started to land but ended up landing on my butt because I was going too fast.

The lake was about 10 miles wide by 20 miles across and had an island in the middle. The island was covered with trees way greener that most trees and had some grass in the middle with sand lining the shore. I knew because my uncle took me there a couple times last year.

I started to walk up to the shore when I heard something rustle in the bushes and trees behind me. When I turned around I saw nothing so I started to walk towards the shore again.  Then when I was about two yards from the shore I heard it again but this time it was louder.

As I turned around I thought I saw something black move in the bushes. Then as I moved closer to the bushes something twice my size popped out at me and tried to grab me. I jumped back about two feet and then I recognized the figure. It was the same guy that attacked me on my way home from the library the day my mom told us we would be moving.

“Ya miss me Little Angel?” he teased and then tried to grab me again.

Little Angel? I thought and then I answered the rest of his question.  “Why would I ever miss you and who are you anyway?” I asked getting ready to fly out of there.

“None of your beeswax, Missy. Now just let me get ya into the helicopter and we can be on our way peacefully.”

“No!” I shouted and I took off running towards the lake again.

When I looked back I noticed that he was chasing me and so I started to run faster. When I got to the dock on the north side of the lake he was about fifty yards behiend me and getting closer. I then quickly ran to the end of the dock and jumped into the little fishing boat, untied it and pushed it off the dock just as the guy got to the end of the dock.

Then he seemed to pull out a walkie talkie and say something into it. The next thing I knew there were ten speed boats coming towards me from the opposite end of the lake at full speed.

I could see about five people on each boat. On one I could see one driving, two getting ropes ready, and two more putting water skies on. So I thought quickly and jumped into the water just as one skimmed the opposite side of the boat.

Under the water I could see about 10 feet away from me so I was able to see the shore line. There were people dressed like the guy lining the shore all the way around the lake so I decided to swim to the island and take off from there.

When I was about thirty yards from the shore some other guy jumped out of his speed boat and nearly landed on me. He ended up grabbing my arm and pulled me under with him. When we came up again he had a tight hold on both my arms and was pulling me towards the sandy shore of the island.

When we got to the shore two other guys were waiting for us. One had some rope and another had duck tape and a sack. The one with the rope had a scare on his forehead and the one with the duck tape and sack had a badge that said “Commander”.

Once they had me in a sitting position on the sand they tied my hands behind my back and duck taped my mouth shut. Then they dropped me in the sack so that only my head could stick out. Then they picked up the sack I was in and carried me deeper into the wooded part of the island.

Once we were in the center of the wooded part of the island I started to hear the hum of a helicopter. Then two minutes later I could see the helicopter. It was black with a white stripe on the bottom. And across the side it said World Experiments Administration, 0001 and that got me going as if you just gave a little toddler a dozen sodas with caffeine.

Then they threw me inside the helicopter where some other guys in black where there to catch me in my sack. Then they put me in a corner and duck taped the sack to the wall as if I could somehow untie the sack and the rope that my hands were tied with.

Then a guy in a very nice black suit and tie came up to me and looked what he could see of me up and down.  I noticed that he had a slight limp.

“Hello, Hannah”,  the guy said starting a conversation with me even though I clearly could not talk back with duck tape over my mouth.

“My name is Mr. Palau, Mr. P. for short”, Mr. Palau said as I tried to hold back the snicker I was able to make at the sound of him saying “Mr. P.” “I am the “Head Commander” of the World Experiments Administration and you are just so very lucky to be one of the many people we have been watching for the past thirty years of the administration’s long career.”

I tried to say “The what!” but it only came out as a muffled humming sound. So he just repeated himself and kept right on talking.

“Yes, the World Experiments Administration. Right now we are flying to the South Shetland Islands in Antarctica. So bundle up, alright. We will be landing in fifteen hours.” He said it with a smirk and walked back to the front of the helicopter.
