CHAPTER 3

- Zeki's POV

"Kids..." Sapi whispers, his green eyes wide, his hands gripping the parchment. His words slap me across my face.

It has to be a joke. I must be a very unfunny joke, a joke nonetheless. Although I have to admit, their acting skills have improved.

Sap has a shocked expression painted across his face and Dese is clenching the arms of the chair, her white knuckles prominent, against her caramel skin. She is always assigned the sunny places, lucky for some.

They're both winding me up, maybe that's what they were talking about when I arrived; let's trick Zeki and pretend we have to hunt down kids..wooo what a great idea."

"har har. Very funny. I personally would have booby trapped the house for jokes." the words burst from my lips with the most cynical tone I can muster, trying to hide my internal panic.

They are both quiet, I am waiting for one of them to crack up any moment now, but they aren't. Dese shakes her head. The doubts flood my mind, they should be laughing but they're not. The seconds tick by but none of them are showing a glimmer of a smile yet.

Why aren't they saying " Only joking! fooled you, your face was priceless?"

I look earnestly at Sapien's very pasty face, I don't even think the best actors can force themselves to drain all the colour from their faces. But anything can happen.

Maybe it's true? No way. What a crazy idea of hunting down kids.

"It's not our style either, you paranoid creep." croaks Dese, charming at the best of times.

"Let me..me read it to you." stutters Sap,

"Dear Missionaries of the Domi Society: Destiny, Sapien and Zeki

We have altered your schedules this year because there is a more privileged mission that is necessary for you to complete.

We value your skills, henceforth have endowed this task upon you to suit your capabilities.

There are three special children that are situated around the world between the ages of fourteen and seventeen years old. Although, there is an age gap they are all linked; as they are all developing their powers but  live among the Norms, who are people that don't possess powers.

We coridally invite you to convene at the Washington D.C. campus to present the three children, in exactly three months.

It is evident to you, by now, from your many years of commitment that if the three children are not delivered by the time appointed, we regrettably will have to enforce punishments on each member of the team.

The Society are uncertain of the exact location and image of each child although to aid you, there are three riddles, supplied for your guidance.

We are grateful for your commitments to the Domi Society and are confident that you will persevere in this mission.

Regards

Governors of the Domi Society"

Sapi finishes reading, looking up at us, taking in our reactions of shock and confusion.

Great we have moved up ranks to babysitters. Couldn't be better, oh just the fact that we don't know where the children are nor what they look like. What a bonus, we have on our hands.

"What is this? How the hell do they not know anything about these children?" Dese stands up anger and outrage spilling off her.

"I know, this is insane."

"I agree, this is rather peculiar the Domi Society, whom are very thorough with their instruction, have severely fallen short on this occasion, they have failed to supply us with the very necessary information." Sap runs his hand through his blond hair, whilst glaring at the letter in his hand.

"These children, could be anywhere, in the world?" Dese continues to voice our concerns.

"Actually, what do the Domi Society need, with these, three children?" I ask.

Dese shrugs and Sap shakes his head. All of us amerced in this mystery.

"Well, the objects, creatures and people, they make us hunt down and capture, every year, are usually dangerous or have committed severe crimes against the Domi Society." Sap states.

"So, what could these teenagers have done so wrong, for them to hail the interest of the Society." I speculate.

"They're not going to be criminals, Zeki." Sap explains, slowly.

How does he know? Mr Know-it -all. I'm not a child, no need to speak to me like one.

"If they were criminals, the Domi Society, would have more information about them, not just three very pathetic riddles." Dese states.

She's surprisingly has a point. They are needed for something else. But what?  In fact who the hell are these kids, that are making us search for them all over the world? They better be damn special.

"So let's get this straight, the Domi Society the largest bad-ass government in the world, instead of forcing us to hunt down the usual, objects and criminals, they are making us hunt and kidnap three kids. The Society don't know anything about them but they are still insisting we go drag them out of their sheltered holes. Is it just me, or is this a some crazy-ass psychotic impossible mission, we have here?"
