CHAPTER 25

- Sapien's POV

I wipe the sweat and tears of my face as Stop, still vibrates through my body. I've never seen her do that before, in fact I've never felt so much power  pour out of her.  Her mental attack has left me breathless and my muscles unstable, it was so vicious, tearing through my body. All I could do was curl up on the floor and protect myself, all my self-control decapitated.

Zeki strides up to me pulling me up swiftly. "Remind me never, to piss her off again, cuz that was insane."

I nod automatically, still stunned at this revelation. I want to go after Dese and tell her it's amazing that she has developed her power and it makes her such a prominent fighter, but my limbs are still disconnected from brain, hindering me from the action.

You may have physical strength but it means so much more, if you also have that mental strength, which she has clearly displayed. I don't mind if she got me on my knees and made me wail out in pain, at least now she has discovered the potential of her power.

I'm perturbed of the reason of those tears, she had in her eyes as she fled the room. She should not be guilty nor ashamed, alternatively she should embrace the fact that, not only can she put images in peoples' minds but words also now. She can force coherent words in someone's mind, something so explicit and distinct. I'm so proud of her, warmth rushes through me, thinking of the extraordinary.

"I think she made me deaf." Butter whines, shaking her fingers in her ears to prevent the ringing, dazzling me out of my speculations.

"Stop being so dramatic. How do you think I felt with the full force directed on me?"

"I can tell how you felt, by your tears."Zeki smirks as he picks up all the weapons that are littered around the room at each station,  as well as turning off the different environments in the stations.

"Hah! Dese made you cry." Love daunts. I shake my head not replying as I hold the door open for them to go through. I think the effects were more savage because of it's unexpectation as well it being excruciating pain anyway.

I allow the others to go ahead, whilst I close the stimulator door and make sure the weapon room is secure. I close my eyes, focusing my hearing on Dese's heartbeat. Spending so much time with Zeki and Dese has forced me learn to differentiate their heartbeats. Her heartbeat is more melodic at a constant rhythm whereas Zeki is more fast paste, not really having a pattern at times.  I sense Dese on the top floor, in the sunroom.

I enter the room,  bright blue is painting over the peach of the sky. The flowers and tropical plants are soothing aromas in the calm and serene atmosphere. I tread further into the room, catching sight of a figure standing on the balcony. I slowly creep towards her not trying to disturb her from her thoughts, she's standing against the railing looking across the waking city. I stand beside her, looking out as well, I can hear the buzzing of peoples' voices as they hurry along the roads, eager to start the day. The fresh smell of rain, tingles my nose, mingled with faces of horses.

Dese sniffles beside me, jarring me out of life below in the city, I can feel a few miles away.

"Are you crying Dese?" I peer into her face, which she shelters away from me.

"No I'm practising to be a water fountain." She snaps, swiftly wiping the remnants of her tears away. I smile, I deserved that, stupid question Sapi.

"You know, it's OK, what you did Dese, in fact it was impressive and you should not be ashamed about it." I attempt again,  to comfort her.

She nods and we relapse into silence again for a few minutes until she says, words flowing out of her mouth, in rapid succession.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you, I didn't know that was going to happen and it wasn't fair. I ruined the match for both of us and made myself look like an idiot. I was so volatile and that's not like me and-" She keeps on rambling so I just grab her, engulfing her into a hug, catching her by surprise so that  she swallows the torrent of words.

I bury my head into her colourful hair, whilst she embeds her head in my chest, she wraps her arms around my waist.

I sigh and assure her "Dese, it is perfectly fine, I don't have healing powers for nothing, like Love said I'm "indestructible" so I didn't writhe in pain for that  long and besides now you know what  you can do."

I feel her nod against me. This is the first time I've seen her shedding the hardcore image of hers, to reveal that vulnerable girl underneath, who has deep feelings and that cares if she hurts you not. I'm grateful I've seen that, it makes me feel closer to her, knowing that she has this side to her. I like that she has all these layers, that's what makes her complex and intricate, so different from everyone else.

We stand there sharing each others warmth in the bitter London morning breeze, in comfortable silence. It's a consoling that we don't have to talk but still have a mutual understanding between us.

"You know, Destiny, I can help you practise your Inflection?" I ask hesitantly, not too sure how she will react.

"Inflection?" Dese looks up with a smile on her lips presenting her dimples on her smooth tanned cheeks, which cause her face to glow.

"Well, that's what I called it. I mean I've never heard of this before, so I don't I know what's it's official name is."  I  unsuccessfully attempt to articulate myself without sounding like a fool.

"Clever." She shrugs. "And yeah I'd like that. Maybe I can help you resist my inflection."  her eyes glimmering under the fresh morning sky, hypnotising me.

"So who wo-"  We leap apart from each other as Zeki staggers onto the balcony. How did he even find us?  In fact what is he even doing here?

"What were you guys doing?" Zeki asks suspiciously as he goes back on his question, caught by our sudden movement. I feel heat creeping up my neck and ears.

"Nothing!" Dese and me deny defensively at the same time, avoiding each other's eyes.

"Really? Sap you OK? Your looking a bit red, are you blushing?" Zeki squints at my face. He doesn't notice the pasta burning but he notices that my face is red.

"No. Just feeling a bit hot." I vehemently reject his claims.

"Yeah of course you're hot because I'm here." Zeki replies arrogantly with smirk playing on his face.

"What are you doing here?" Dese asks straightforwardly, her shield snapping back on.

"Oh forgot." Zeki carelessly says, sauntering away and then spins around, "Actually wait, can we look at the third clue to find the last kid?"

"Yes it's in my the first drawer of the desk, in the study." I inform him

"So you gonna give me your finger, I mean it would be entertaining watching you in pain, you might actually cry again and I've always wanted to see a bone regrow back?" Zeki crudely asks, having a jab at my tears again. There's nothing with crying, everyone needs to release a little emotion, once in a while and besides them tears were just a reflex reaction. I could not have prevented them in anyway.

"No, I'm coming with you." I grimly reply.

He groans in response as he leaves the balcony, as I exit I grab Dese's hand dragging it with me, giving it a reassuring squeeze before I go past her.
