Dese's POV
The breath is swatted out of me, as I stumble and fall on my back, the impact runs up my back strongly. Where am I? What just happened? Where is the vent? I am so disorientated, questions buzz in my head.
I push myself up from the wooden floorboards, swiftly in my haste, making my head spin for a few seconds before it adjusts. Love and Butter are sprawled nearby, against a large electric bed. Butter's bed. We were in the house. How did we end up in the house? I stand abruptly peering around, to find Zeki and Sap, but they are not here.
Love moans "Get off me." as she tries to untangle herself from Butter.
I stride to both the children, pulling them up rapidly.
"Did you just sift us here Butter? I demand, not caring I was being blunt.
"Yes. I don't like closed spaces." Butter stares at the the ground sheepishly, a blush creeping up his light brown skin.
So he manged us to sift us, when there was no power, yep like that is not impossible. But to be honest I don't care, if that's supposed to happen or not, he got us out of there. He just needs to go fetch the rest of the team that are still confined in that vent.
"You need to go get Sap and Zeki, Butter." I bend down to Butter's eye level. I need to persuade him some how. If he can do the impossible, so can I.
He shakes his head reluctantly, although guilt and fear flicker in his wide black eyes. He's scared but he is aware that he he should go back and get them because it's the right thing to do.
"You can do Butter. I know you are scared but everyone has a set back and this happens to be yours but you are brave, you can face. You can face living by yourself in the desert and hang out with beasts, going back there is minuscule compared to what has occurred to you." I say, in the most reassuring voice I can muster up in this desperate situation.
I can't do anything to help Zeki and Sap directly but I have to persuade this fifteen year old to go back to his fear and face it head on.
Butter is frozen in place, his face is so open, I glimpse all the emotions playing through his face, fear, relief, guilt, anger, doubt, confusion. I am not cold hearted not selfish enough to force him to do something he doesn't want to do but I have to try to do everything I can. If he doesn't want to go back, I'll find another way to get the rest of my team back. I have to, have no choice in the matter.
"Butter, you are the brave kid that can sift Zeki's ass half way across the Saharan desert, just because you can, now where is that boy that can do the impossible? You just have to make one trip then you will not have to back there ever again. You can do it, it will take you less than five seconds, that's all. You can do it for the team. Sap and Zeki will be there to help you and Love and me are here for you so you are not alone." I speak sincerely looking into his deep back eyes trying to push all my reassurance and confidence into him.
A few seconds pass, before I can see the decision beginning to form in his face, he really is like an open book. He nods determinedly, I reach over to give him a hug me. I whisper in his ear.
"You can do it kid." He zaps out as soon as we let go of each other.
He can do it, I don't know how he can do it, but he can use his sifting power when the electricity is on.
*****
Sap paces in front of us in the study, whilst Zeki perches on the wooden table and I'm laying on the leather chair, my limbs sprawling out of. The children are in the weapon room, sparring once again. I think it's almost becoming an obsession for them to become better.
"So all the children can use their powers even when the electricity is off and Butter just proved this by sifting us today." Sap grips the 4D image in his hand, as he strides back and forth, releasing all his confusion.
"Do you want to say that again, I don't think I got that the last five times you said it." Zeki gripes running his hand through his brown hair frustratingly.
We have looked through all the links and slides in the past few hours as soon as Sap and Zeki were sifted back by Butter.
"Sorry, I just cannot comprehend there we actually uprooted a prophecy of the stupefying nature and I should have listened to your suspicions." Sap apologies still refusing to sit down, this man is making me dizzy. "I mean, there are three children that will become the most influence people as well as the most powerful, in both worlds, the Norms and our world." Sap carries on speaking out his thoughts. We have accepted the fact that this is how he organises his thoughts now, by speaking them out loud, it's quite interesting watching his thought processes at times.
"No wonder the Domi Society, want these three children, they crave power." I pip up as realisation dawns on me of the Domi Society's motives in making us kidnap these three children. "But what are they going to do with these children though, what benefit are they to the Domi Society.?"
"They are most likely going to harness their powers and make them better as they can be as they can be." Sap logically voices, finally coming to a stop..
"Or they are going to kill them." Zeki mumbles with a dark look on our face.
Sap and me both look at him taken aback by this comment Zeki innocently just nudged out. The Domi Society can't possibly kill them. That's absurd. They are just teenagers, barely out of childhood.
There is a shock of silence in the comforting study thanks to Zeki. We look at him in expectation waiting for him to expand. He looks up realising we are expecting a reason for his disturbing prediction. You don't just say those sort of things and not carry on, dude.
Zeki hops of the desk and leans against it instead. "Why wouldn't they just kill them? The Domi Society want everyone to be under their control, they love power but only if they possess it. These kids, the fourteen and fifteen, downstairs are going to grow up to be incredibly dominant people and this frightens the Society and the only way to eliminate a threat is to kill it. The Domi Society can't take their powers or be able to discipline it, so they will just eradicate it. Think about it logically, guys." Zeki gives us an earnest look, trying to make us understand, what he believes.
He has a point, we don't know what the Domi Society are going to do with these kids when we deliver them, but we need to consider all the options from all the extra information we have managed to rifle through. Maybe that's why the Domi Society did not mention anything of the prophecy to us because they knew we would have doubts and be able to figure it out their hidden agenda. Little did they know, we would go to extreme lengths just to find out more than they ever wanted us to.
However will we convey these kids to the Domi Society, after what we have just found out? If we don't we will have to face the punishments and will evidently be hunted down, not only will be putting our lives at risk but everyone we know including these unassuming teenagers. We are unmistakeably trapped, whether we hand over these children or not. But it is obvious now that we have to find the last teenager.
"Whose going to be killed?"Love's booms into the room starling us out of our thoughts, making us all jump. She really needs to stop sifiting with Butter.
Zeki, Sap and me glance each other caught in this very awkwardly, instantly deciding that at no costs would we share our fears with them. Love and Butter don't need to know about the prophecy. It will just give them big heads and make them more reckless than they are, which could be more disastrous than our current situation.
"How many times have I told you to not sift in the house, you have legs use them." Sap scolds, trying to smoothly skive out of Love's question.
"I have powers so I am going to use them instead." Butter cheekily replies back with a serious look on his face.
