It's been a month since my surgery. My recovery was going alright, but I was still pretty limited with my movements. Mama and daddy have been super busy with the shows at Caesar's. Granny and grandma were still with us and we all loved having them. Since mama and daddy were away most of the time, it gave me a chance to bond with them. Tonight was opening night of the residency. Mama was pretty nervous about it. She'd done Broadway before, but Vegas was a different caliber of people.
Shelby could even tell at she was nervous because he was fussing all night. It was now mid afternoon and mama was pacing the floor. She had finally gotten Shelby to sleep, but was just waiting for the moment he'd get up again.

"Mama? What are you doing?" I asked

"Hm? Oh, nothing. Just thinking." She replied.

"About?" I asked

"Just the show tonight." She said.

"You never get this nervous." I said

"I know but...these are just different people and venue is so different. What if it doesn't go well?" She asked

"Mama it's gonna go great!" I said

"I-...I just won't know until after tonight. Guess it's just like ripping a bandaid off, huh? The sooner it's done, the better." She said

"I guess." I said. She crossed her arms, going  the kitchen and coming back into the living room. Grandma walked in holding a chunky little baby. Mama gave a small sigh.

 "Up again, huh?" She said.

"Yep." She nodded

"Come here little man." Mama said with a tired smile, holding out her hands.

"Is he too young to start teething yet?" I asked

"He could start teething as early as 3 months. It's normally at 6 months." She said

"Do you think he is?" I asked. Mama opened his mouth and looked inside to see if he showed any signs of teething.

"Well I'll be...He is teething." She smiled; He's cheeks were all red and puffy

"Poor man...mama's sorry she didn't even think about teething." She said to him in a baby voice.
She kissed his cheek and bounced him. Daddy walked into the living room.

"We don't have any teething rings, do we?" He asked.

"Check in the nursery." She said. After a few minutes he came back down the stairs to mama holding a fussy Shelby.

"I looked high and low...and I finally found a few." He said.

"Here baby boy." Mama put it in his mouth and held it place  He was a bit unfamiliar with it at first, but he soon found that it soothed his aching gums. His hands grabbed a hold and he stopped fussing for the time being. Mama kissed his cheek, When mama kissed him, he smiled and cooed.

"I love you." She smiled. His hand reached for her face, the other still holding on to the teething ring. She put her face in his. He giggled and made a few small noises. She gave him a Eskimo kiss. He gave a squeal, holding on tight to his teething ring.

"I love you so much." She smiled. His arm flapped a bit and he made a few cooing sounds. She giggled. He stopped making sounds for the moment due to him chewing on the teething ring. His eyes were a bit droopy.

"Is someone getting tired?" She asked him. His head came to rest against her chest. He was still using the teething ring. Mama rubbed his back. He made a few small noises and after a few minutes he had. let go of his teething ring. He was fast asleep. Mama laid him in his swing
