It was finally the day before my surgery. I have been a very long three weeks. Ryan stayed by my side the entire time he was here almost everyday. I could tell that my parents were not too happy with that, but they hadn’t said anything yet, well until today. My mom and I were cleaning up the house while my dad was out food shopping for the party. I was in the kitchen when I hear my mom yell
“Avia” The way that she said that, she sounded like she was in pain. I got to her as fast as I could, which wasn’t very fast. I found her in the bathroom with her head over the toilet about to heave.
“Alright mama hold it in for one more second” I said sitting on the edge of the tub behind her and pulled her hair back and rubbed soothing circles on her back. After she finished doing what she was doing, she just leaned back on my legs from pure exhaustion.
“I forgot how rough the first trimester was,” She said after five minutes of getting her strength back
“Did you get this sick as much as you when you were pregnant with me” I asked as stroked her head.
“No not at all, I think I only got sick once or twice when I was pregnant with you. But this little one is making up for” she said rubbing her slightly bulged stomach
“ I guess I know that I was your first pregnancy and wanted to take it easy on you” I said
“Well thank you darlin” She said getting up and grabbing my crotches.
“Thanks” I said getting up from the tub and waking out of the bathroom
“Hey mom is it cool is Ryan comes over tonight”
“I don’t think that is a good idea”
“Why not”
“Because ever since you started seeing him again, have been acting different and your daddy and I don’t like the new Avia”
“So you don’t want me to be happy,” I said getting mad at her
“Avia Grace, you don’t have the right to raise your voice at me” she yelled
“When why do you enjoy criticizing about me dating Ryan?” I yelled
“Well do you think I enjoy taking care of a emotional mess of a daughter when he hurts you. When I am pregnant.” We both stood there in shock for a minute and then she started to say
“Avia, I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to say that” She said trying to apologize, but it was too late. The damage was already done. I grabbed my car keys for the island and got out of there as soon as I could. I didn’t know where I was going. As I was pulling out of the garage I figured out here I am going to go. My car has Bluetooth in it and its hooked up to my phone. So all I have to do is press a button on the steering wheel and say “Call Aunt Barbara Mandrell” and it does it for me.
“Hello” The women said on the other side of the line
“HI Aunt B, Its Avia. How are you?” I was with tears welling in my eyes
“Hi honey I’m doing great. How are you doing?” she asked
“I have been better, Are you home?” I said and my voice started to crack
“Yes I am home. Is everything okay? She asked concerned
“Can I come over and talk, I feel bad inviting my self over, but I really need to talk to you?” I said basically crying
“Of coarse you can honey, you know that you are always welcome here.” She said
“Thank you, I should be there in about 15 minutes,” I said
