Happy Holidays! Hope you like the video I made for you guys! I made it for my YouTube channel and decided that I could post it for you guys too! Enough of my rambling though, on with the chapter!
Kailee hesitated as she walked into the school.
Could she really face Tray after the other night?
After Tray got over his initial shock, he seemed perfectly fine. He even ruffled her hair. Why was she so worried?
She guessed it was because she never had a friend besides Demon, more or less one who accepted her completely.
Of course, Miss Mona didn't count, considering she was way older than Kailee.
It was a nice feeling, for once in her life, to have a friend she could confide in, someone she could trust.
It was also a very foreign feeling.
But, Kailee was used to change and adapting, since her and Demon had to adapt to the environment wherever they went when they were on the run.
They had to change their feeding schedule, they had to find a new place to sleep, they had to take even more precautions than before.
It had been an endless struggle for survival, an ongoing battle Kailee and Demon had been getting tired of.
Maybe, finally, she and Demon could settle in one place, have a potential future.
Just maybe.

"Those two are up to something." Henry narrowed his eyes at his best friend and the new girl.
"What makes you think that?" Will asked, taking a bite into his peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Henry wondered if he should tell Will about the demon dog. It would give him more reason to be suspicious if he did.
"Cause Tray wasn't lying about the demon dog. I saw him too." Henry said.
Will groaned and set his half eaten sandwich down. "Oh, gosh! Not you too! Why are you playing along?"
"I'm not. Tray was telling the truth. Jeez, now I know how Tray felt when we didn't believe him." Henry huffed. "It's weird though. I called the demon dog 'boy' to coax him into telling us his name when he suddenly got angry. I'm surprised he didn't maul me."
"The demon dog can talk now?" Will raised an eyebrow.
"He can't talk, per-say. He can only transfer emotions to another person. It's how he communicates, I guess." Henry shrugged. "Back to the topic at hand, he never came back and Tray hasn't said anything about him to me at all, so I guessed that he didn't show up again."
"What's this have to do with you being suspicious about Kailee, too?" Will asked, mouth full of peanut butter.
"The day the demon goes missing, Kailee and Tray are suddenly buddy-buddy again. They were avoiding each other for a while, you know. It seems that he's closer to her now and he never sits with us anymore." Henry explained.
"Maybe Tray wants his space? Did you ever think of that? Maybe he likes Kailee? Rumors have it that they're secretly dating. Maybe that's what's going on." Will shrugged, but suddenly raised an eyebrow at Henry. "Do you have something against her? Or are you jealous of Tray?"
"What!? No! Ew! Dude, do not cross that line! I do not have a crush on Kailee and I certainly don't have anything against her." Henry argued. "It's just weird. Demon doggy disappears and suddenly the mysterious new girl and our best friend that apparently made friends with a demon are buddies and very secretive. Tray told me that all of Kailee's families died within the first two weeks they adopted her. Maybe she's involved with demons and she's cursed." Henry concluded.
"Yes," Will rolled his eyes. "And I'm a black child molester."
"I'm being serious!" Henry paused at Will's look. "Okay, maybe the demon curse is a little far fetched...but I'm still suspicious!"
Will shook his head. "You and Tray need to get these fantasies out of your head. Demons don't exist! What have you two been taking, drugs?"
"We have not been taking anything! Whether you believe it or not, it's true. And convincing yourself it's not won't make them go away. I might be a little hippocratic, saying this to you when I was recently saying the same things, but it's true. The monsters under your bed and in your closet, the demons from movies, the mythical beings our parents read to us about when we were young, they're real. You might not have seen them, but others have." Henry rambled.
"Then why hasn't anyone said anything, huh? Gotten proof?" Will barked.
"Because." Henry replied simply. "They were probably called crazy and sent to an asylum. Or died a horrible death before they got the chance to."
"I don't know why you would think they would let humans reveal them." Henry finished.
"Then why aren't you dead? Why isn't Tray dead? Why aren't my best friend's bodies strung on the ceiling or worse, ripped apart and half eaten? Liver and bones made into decorations on the walls of where you were killed?" Will glared.
"Because this demon was different. He wasn't protecting us or following us. He didn't want to hurt us. He wanted help." Henry shot back.
"Help with what?" Will asked, doubt in his voice.
"He wanted to help his friend. He was protecting someone, but we don't know who. He wanted us to help that person."
"Did you find them?" Will asked, calmer now.
"No." Henry shook his head. "But I think Tray has."
Will turned his gaze to where Henry was staring, at Kailee and Tray, alone at a table, chatting amongst themselves.

"Are you okay?" Tray asked.
"Your friends are talking about us. About Demon." Kailee blinked at him, emotionless.
"They are?" Tray asked and Kailee nodded. He figured it had to do with demon hearing.
"Henry is getting very close to the truth, did you know that? Will has his doubts but judging by his emotions and replies, I'm thinking he's leaning towards believing Henry." Kailee sighed.
"What do you mean? How?" Tray asked, worried.
"He's taking about all of my families' deaths."
Tray halted, blinking. "Oh. Kay, I'm sorry. I didn't-"
"It's fine. It's all he has on me for now. I'm not in any real danger, not at this point." Kailee assured both of them.
The bell rang and both of them stood up.
"And hopefully," Tray glanced back at his friends as Kailee heard Tray speak.
"Neither are they."
Hope you liked this chapter! I'll post soon! Bye my doggies!
