Tray stopped midway in the hallway as Henry screamed his name.
Tray raced back to see Henry standing there, eyes wide with fear. "What is it?" Tray asked.
"I believe you." Henry said quietly.
Tray immediately knew what had happened.

"Come on. You're coming to my house." Tray said.
"What? Why?" Henry asked.
"You'll find out when we get there." Tray said. He didn't want to tell Henry in case that he was too terrified.

Both boys trudged up Tray's stairs and into his bedroom.
Tray closed the door behind the them and locked it. He turned to face Henry.
"Uh, Tray, why'd you lock the door?" Henry asked nervously.
"We need to talk to you without you running away." Tray said, eyes narrowed.
"We?" Henry asked, scared.
Henry felt a small breeze behind him and slowly turned around.
The demon dog stared at him, sitting there. Henry screamed and backed away, but Tray blocked the door.
"Like I said before, we need to talk."
"Tray, this is absurd. It's a demon!" Henry breathed heavily and turned to face Tray. "Why are you doing this? Are you a demon too?"
Tray snorted. "Hardly. Trust me, it scared me at first too, but you get used to it. By choice or by force."
Henry gazed at the demon again to see it wag its skeletal tail and smile humanly.
Proud.
Henry jumped at the emotions, as for they were not his own. Tray laughed. "You'll get used to it. It uses emotions to communicate."
The dog seemed to bristle.
Anger. Distasteful.
Tray and Henry looked at the demon. Henry feared its actions while Tray seemed concerned.
"What's wrong?" Tray asked it.
The dog bared its teeth again.
Anger of it. Distasteful.
"Angry at it? What's it?" Tray asked.
The demon looked down as if pointing at itself.
"Are you mad that I'm referring to you as an 'it'?" Tray asked.
The dog nodded.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know." Tray apologized.
"Tray! Why are you apologizing to it!?" Henry screamed.
Tray glared at Henry. "One, I did something wrong, so I'm apologizing for it. Two, I don't think you want to get ripped apart. Three, he has feelings too, demon or not."
Henry made a 'hmmph' noise.
"Why'd you show yourself to him?" Tray asked.
The demon shrugged.
"That's not an answer." Tray deadpanned.
The demon smiled.
"You're talking to i-him like he's a human." Henry told Tray.
"Yeah." Tray shrugged. "He might as well be one."
"Hardly." Henry sneered. The demon growled at Henry and green smoke rose from his nose.
