Of course, she didn't have any intellect to think about the feelings of her friends, at least, not at this point.

You see, she thought that her death would consist of her friend's safety and happiness. They wouldn't have to deal with her, along with the petty problems she, and her dog,  carried in an invisible wagon behind them. Danger would be obsolete for them, or at least tapered down to where maybe a car crash or house fire would be considered normal danger. Not rampaging psycho murderers who want revenge on their daughters and out of control, soul sucking demons, like themselves.

Life was always a sad story for her from the very beginning, and although it changed for a while, her past would always come back to haunt her. This was the fate she was destined to have and she wasn't going to interfere. Especially if it kept her friends and new family safe.

Demon was a nice change in pace, at first. Don't get the wrong idea, she loved Demon very much, but she was always worried about dragging him down with her, if she ever screwed up.

Now, her fears have become reality. She messed up and wasn't careful, so now both of them were withering away, slowly and painfully.

She was happy to have someone to connect with and recognize in her times of need, but this was the price, and in her opinion, it was too high.

She didn't agree with the fact that Demon had to die too, since in all reality, it was her fault the boys had gotten hurt and in so much danger.

It wasn't Demon's mom who had kidnapped the boys and controlled them, it was her's.

She knew everything had a price, and she was willing to pay for the boys' safety and happiness with her life, but Demon's?

That was too far.

She hated it, but what could she do? Demon was loyal to her, and her best friend, before Tray, Will, and Henry even. Demon was going to go down with her by his own accord.

So, she made a promise. A promise that would ensure she would die with no regrets.

'I will save Demon with whatever it takes before I die. I will use my last seconds, minutes, hours, and days to ensure that Demon will live and the boys will be safe. I swear on everything, except my life because I've already let it go.'

That promise would be fulfilled. She owed Demon and her family that much.

The boys, of course, had no idea of what ran through her head that day, or any other day for that matter, considering Kailee was the type of person to have a complex mind. No one could ever quite know what she's thinking. Not even the boys or Demon.

Sometimes, the demon girl had a one track mind. She was thinking of one thing and one thing only. If something came up, she would ignore it, no matter the situation, and continue on her path to complete the one thing she was determined to do or say.

Other times, she would have a completely jumbled mind full of goals, ideas, thoughts, and things she wanted to say. For most people, that would give someone a huge headache, and maybe make them slightly dizzy or sick. For Kailee, though? It was easy, and far from giving her headaches or a dizzy feeling. It was a mystery, whether or not this was because she was half demon or just because she was that weird. Sadly, they did not have another (humanoid) demon or half demon to test this theory.

Then there was Demon. The demon dog that could take a normal dog appearance. He was not half demon like Kailee, but he shared the same soul devouring curse she did. They bonded over this, and the fact that Demon could disguise himself as a normal dog gave them the more intent to believe that Demon really did share Kailee's half demon trait, although it wasn't true, it was a nice thought and something more to bond over.

Demon was like Kailee in lots of ways, but the best one to compare would be his temper. Kailee had a temper and so did Demon. It was hard to decipher if Kailee got her temper from Demon, or if Demon got his temper from Kailee, without asking.

Demon also had a habit of drifting from his original goal and/or thoughts. One moment he'd be thinking of a bone (mind you, he is still a dog, despite being a demon), and the littlest thing that happened next could set him off course and onto a spiral of dark and demented thoughts, even if the littlest thing that happened was rainbows and unicorns.

Demon was also loyal. His master, his best friend, and his sister was Kailee. In his mind, whatever she did, he would follow. If she was going to die, it was her choice, but Demon would go with.

Demon loved Kailee and she was his only friend in the beginning. He wasn't going to abandon her now because of something as petty as death.

Neither of them were ever afraid of death. Pain, maybe, but never death. There was no point in being scared of it, really.

When they were younger, they would both think of the worst things that could happen. The mere prospect of it forced them to push the thoughts to the back of their minds, locked away. It didn't erase them, though. They were still there, lingering like a shadow in the darkness.

The boys? They had always had happy lives. Normal ones. When Kailee and Demon came into their lives, normal wasn't even a word anymore.

They were happy, but Kailee thought otherwise. The boys were happy and loved Kailee and Demon like siblings. Kailee didn't know this and Demon didn't think to acknowledge this.

Safety was the last thing on the boys' minds anymore. It wasn't really a possibility with the two demons around, but they were quick to give it up, if it meant keeping the two demons.

Kailee didn't know this. How could she when all she brought was pain, sorrow, and death?

Kailee didn't know this, and that's why she thought it was best if she died. The boys could know the meaning of safety and happiness again, in her mind, this was okay.

But it wasn't. And she couldn't know that. She would never ask. The boys didn't think they had to tell her either.

Sadly, these decisions would end in plenty of pain.

I'm so sorry about the late update! Busy week it was! I got my hair dyed and they ended messing it up, so yah. I'm going back next Saturday to get it fixed. Right now it's different shades of blue with small stripes of purple through out. It was supposed to be like that, but it's darker than I wanted. It's supposed to be bright. Anyway, bye my doggies!
