Demon Within

Chapter 22

This is still taking place on New Years Eve! I'm just updating today, okay! On with the chapter!

Tray raced into the living room, feeling off balance with only one shoe on.

He saw Will and Henry by the table with snacks so he awkwardly walked over to them.

"Hey, uh something's-" He started but his friend's cut him off.

"Up with Kailee." They said in sync.

"And Demon." Tray added.

"Really?" Henry asked.

"Yeah." Tray picked up his shoeless foot. "He took my shoe and keeps running around with it, acting all hyper and loco."

"So something is up with them, but what?" Will asked.

"It might have something to do with them beings demons. I mean, no one else seems to be affected. And I feel fine." Tray answered.

"You're probably right. But it can't be just the fact that they're demons." Henry said. "Something has to be affecting them. Something that is happening tonight."

"'But what?' Is the question." Will sighed.

"Wait!" Henry gasped. "I might have an idea!"

"What is it?" Tray asked, desperate.

"Come with me!" Henry rushed and grabbed his friend's hands, dragging them out of the door.

They came to a stop when they got to the road. "Look." Henry pointed up at the sky.

The boys looked up and saw a cloudy, night sky. The moon was hidden behind the clouds, but a red glow could be seen.

"Is the moon...red?" Will gaped.

"Yep!" Henry cheered. "The fourth and final lunar eclipse in an ongoing tetrad – four lunar eclipses in a row. Some people will call it a Blood Moon."

"Nerd." Tray muttered.

Henry huffed and shoved Tray. "I'm not a nerd. Besides, this is something, isn't it? But..."

"But what?" Tray became worried.

"A Blood Moon is supposed to happen in September, not December. That's what puzzles me." Henry replied.

"Wouldn't Kailee warn us about this? That she and Demon go crazy with a Blood Moon? This obviously hasn't happened before and a normal Blood Moon obviously doesn't affect her or Demon." Henry finished.

"This isn't a normal Blood Moon though." Will realized. "This one is taking place in December. But why?"

"Is it Kailee and Demon? Do they have some affect on the atmosphere? That causes this?" Tray asked.

"Guys...when was the last time Kailee or Demon had any souls?" Henry slowly asked.

The group blinked and stared at each other. "F*ck."

Back in the house, Slide headed upstairs to get his phone in his room.

No one else was upstairs since the whole party was downstairs and it was quiet.

Kailee and Demon laughed as they poured water on Slide's head.

"Wh-what? Kailee?!" Slide sputtered, spitting the water out of his mouth.

"Hey, Slide!" Kailee laughed.

"What'd you do that for?" He asked, shocked.

"Don't know. It was funny, though." Kailee giggled again and her stomach growled. Demon's followed. "Oh! I'm hungry!"
