"Miss Mona!" The boys called as they rushed over to the woman as soon as they found her.
She turned around hastily. "What is it? Where's Kailee and Demon? I haven't seen them in a while."
"That's the problem." Tray rushed.
The boys quickly and quietly explained to Miss Mona the situation.
"Oh my!" She gasped. "Steven went upstairs to get his phone. He's all by himself, and he hasn't come back down in a while."
"Then he might not be as alone as you think he is." Will said.

Kailee skipped closer, Demon also happily following. "You smell so good! You do know I can smell the fear pouring off of you, right?"
Slide didn't say anything and cowered into the wall.

He remembered what she had said just a few hours ago, when she was acting normal.
"You know something? You always act like your dog can understand you." Slide laughed.
"He can!" Kailee argued. "Dogs are smarter than most people give them credit for."

"We don't have time for that, silly!" Kailee giggled. "Demon and I are hungry. Tell you what, we'll have our meal first, then we can talk, okay!"
Slide shivered.
