"NYX!!"
The smell of smoke, flames and blood reek in the atmosphere, pain was everywhere.
The voice was one that I could always remember, no matter what happens to me, a voice I could never forget.
My youngest brother.
"NYX!! SAVE THEM!! SAVE THEM FIRST!!"
More blood sprayed as a yell emitted from my younger brothers lungs, but I still couldn't move. All I could do was look up at the gray darkness overhead.
But I knew I had to move. My brothers needed me.
Then something wrapped around my wrist, thin, cold, and metal. Then sparks fly, and I was yanked to my feet, "MOVE DAMMIT!! IT'S NOT THE TIME TO SIT AROUND!" Commands a male's voice, his hand on my back pushing me forward, more pain rips through my body, burning my skin, tearing through my muscles.
I turn as he falls to one knee, his blade in the ground and his hand wrapped around it, keeping him from falling over, blood dripping from his face and from underneath a bandana. He looks up at me and mutters, "Save 'em. I don't need help."
The look he gave me wanted me to kneel before him and revive him, to assure his safety.
But I had to do what he said and move.
My surroundings were more clear, blood curtling screams tear out from everywhere. I turn and see a young woman lying on her side, her orange hair covering her face in strands, blood emitting from her mouth, her eyes glazed and half closed. Dead.
I move, grabbing her, pulling her up to eye level, I whisper, my mouth inches from hers, "prædictas Fatales potestate! ut det vobis vitam!" These are the words I was born to speak, the one's that come naturally, that will always be woven in my blood.... and the orange haired girl coughed as the words traveled into her, bring a small flicker of the dead flame back into her eyes. It wasn't a lot. But it was enough.
I place her on the ground gently, old bones crumbling into a fine dust under her weight.
Her bottom lips trembles as she breathes shallowly, tears roll down her cheeks. "Shh, It will be ok, shh..." I whisper stroking her hair gently, then I stand, looking around, and see the bodies. She wasn't the only one.
I move with my silent footing, bones crumble to a thin dust as the are crushed under my feet. They were all dying.
I had to find my brothers.
Then I turn and see it.
My three brothers standing side by side by side.
Dripping with blood.
They fall one by one, starting with the eldest, ending with the youngest.
The last thing Luffy whispers before he hits the ground was, "Nyx, you promised to protect us"
His voice coated with pain, the type of pain felt at the heart.
"God damnit V." is the last thing I hear before....I sit up with a shriek, I was dripping with sweat, tears in my eyes.
Then the door was kicked down by a fierce looking neko girl.
"What's going on?" She hissed, her ears pressed against her head, angry.
"Nothing!" I say quickly, trying to even out my breathing. "I just had a horrible dream..."
"Oh." She said, her hands on her hips, her ears relaxing. "Well, I'm going now..."
I stand, securing my cloak around my neck pulling up the hood, walking out onto the deck, I stand the night air cooling my skin. Then the cat girl landed on my shoulder, somehow she was able to sit there without causing me to fall over, or her to fall off. "Lemme see the Log Post." She commands and I hold up my wrist, she grabs it, looking at it, nodding. "We should get to the first island by the morning."
"What do you mean, we?" I question, an eyebrow raised.
"We, yea, me and who else?" She says as if I were very much so stupid. "I'm not kicking you off your own ship, so I'm sticking around."
I stare and then sigh, at least I'll have some 'company', a smart-ass at that, but at least its company.
By the time the sun rose we had reached the island. I stand at the railing, the wind dancing in my longer than it used to b hair. I don't remember the last time I cut it... probably not even once after I joined the marines
It now hit a few inches after my shoulders, but it was usually pulled back in a tight bun or ponytail, or tucked into my cap or in my cloak.
Then the post came in, announced by the neko girl, and then brought to me by my new, surprisingly helpful, comrade.
I set the papers down gently on a table, not having the time to look at them, because the island was a few hundred feet away from us, that seemed to be oddly empty worn down, and silent.
